Love fills Iloilo airport
February 15,2013 12:15 AM
By: Francis Allan L. Angelo

LOVE will fill the air at the Iloilo airport with its new branding aimed at providing passengers warm and pleasing welcome.

The Iloilo airport management headed by Engr. Efren Nagrama, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)-Iloilo manager, launched on the day of love, February 14, its new brand “Love of Serve You.”

Nagrama said they patterned the brand after Iloilo City’s moniker – the “City of Love.”

“Iloilo has been popularly dubbed as the ‘City of Love’ which is very well complemented by the in-born characteristics of Ilonggos as being ‘malambing.’ Iloilo international airport made these ideas to be the inspiration on how its employees should dispense services to clients. Thus the phrase ‘Love to Serve You’ is born,” Nagrama said.

The brand will also be displayed in the Flight Information Display system messenger ads line, footers of official documents and will become the standard greetings at the airport.

“Other greetings may also be applied subject to appropriateness before the phrase ‘Love to Serve You’,” Nagrama said.

Nagrama said they will institutionalize the brand through meetings and memoranda to offices and service providers at the airport.

The branding also covers service providers such as cafes, restaurants and transport services in the P8-billion gateway.

Department of Tourism regional director Helen Catalbas lauded the airport’s branding efforts as it jives with the tourism campaign of Western Visayas.

Catalbas said Iloilo airport along with Caticlan in Aklan province are now the sources of challenge in other gateways in the country.

“My counterpart in Central Visayas told me that we are challenge to them because of our growing arrivals. All eyes are now on Western Visayas and we should contribute to maintain and sustain the growth of our tourism sector,” she added.

Catalbas said it is important that airport workers offer warm and loving service to passengers and clients to make good lasting impressions.

“The airport offers the first and last impression to visitors. So we should always be smiling and warm in dealing with them.”

Catalbas, however, only has one advice to airport workers: “Don’t smile or laugh alone.”

Amo man na reaction namon sa FB Group Page.

Honestly, the logo is crap! Me don't like it! It's like an elementary logo project! The idea is good... pero sana naman naglevel-up sila sa design ng logo! Tsek tsek...

Can anyone post the new marketing logo of Iloilo Airport?
Thanks!

EDIT:
Saw it. Sorry if I would say, walang ka-effort effort ang disenyo. For an international airport, they could have tapped the potential of our Ilonggo graphical artists. Just my

For me it is neither good nor bad. It just doesn't have a "wow factor" attached to it. But the message is there.

Perhaps we could send suggestions/comments to let them know?

Duty Free to open in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY, Feb 15 (PNA) -- Duty Free Philippines is eyeing to soon open in Iloilo.

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said Friday that representatives of the Duty Free Phils confirmed their expansion here during a recent visit at the office of the city’s chief executive.

He noted the company is considering three sites: inside Iloilo Airport, at the Central Business District (CBD) in downtown Calle Real, or at the CBD in Mandurriao district and their plans are expected to be finalized in three-month time.

“The Duty Free opening will create convenience for travelers. It will also put Iloilo City stronger in a position to become a premier city by 2015,” Mabilog stressed.

“They (officials of Duty Free Philippines) were surprised to see Iloilo a progressive city in this part of the country,” the mayor said.

The Iloilo Airport now serving direct flights to and from Hong Kong and Singapore has prompted Duty Free Philippines to put up shop here which attracts balikbayans, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and tourists.

why not do the 3? instead of a big 1, make 3 mid sizes shops in 3 locations.
2015 will be a year to remember. the target is there. we have the aim. we have to take a shot. if we fail, lets do it again. if we succeed, lets do more.

OT: It's good to know that John Gokongwei Jr. the father of Lance Gokongwei, the President of Cebu Pacific is half ilonggo by way of his mother, Juanita Marquez Lim of Iloilo.

on that note, Cebu Pacific should connect Iloilo Airport to another domestic route this year to exploit the burgeoning international market of its Iloilo Hub. via the top 3 choices.

2011 busiest airports are as follows:

1. Manila- connected
2. Cebu- connected
3. Davao- connected
4. Iloilo- obvious ba?
5. Cagayan de Oro- connected
6. Kalibo-
7. bacolod
8. Tacloban- connected
9. Puerto Prinsesa- connected
10. Zamboanga
11. Clark
12. Tagbilaran
13. Boracay
* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...he_Philippines

of the list, Zamboanga, Clark and Tagbilaran is a logical step considering the traffic.

will have to take note also, of the 3..Zamboanga and Clark is international and Tagbilaran in the future via Panglao.

so it brings us down to two routes..Ilo-Zam and Ilo-Clark.

about adding more Inte Flights this year? we'll see. indians eating kimchi would be nice.

my wishlist though would be Kalibo and Boracay on a night flights. but that is a long shot for now..

two main factors would be
both Kalibo and Boracay operates 24 hours a day?
ferry boats going to the island paradise also operates 24 hours a day.
