Lagi tayong dehado in showing our best side, yet this is a spanking brand new airport and it looks not only world class but great!

Ayala will surely develop a residential subdiivision in Iloilo. What about commercial or CBD? The winning bid this April of old Mandurriao site will definitely change Iloilo's economic climate and landscape. A thing to look forward to indeed.

But there you go, it's not the name that counts ika nga. It's the service the airport can offer to all Ilonggos, Panaynons, visitors, guests and tourists coming in and out of Iloilo province.

he he. I'll simply go for Iloilo Airport. I don't like this airport to have too many conflicting names. Iloilo Airport is just enough, I guess. I'm sure many Ilonggos and tourists will enjoy travelling to Iloilo with style when the new airport starts to operate. All I wish is we can maintain (if not surpass) the number of turnover of passengers, flights, cargoes the old Mandurriao airport once had. And maybe later, expansion and catering of international flights will be in place. Maybe sooner than we think of.

it all boils down from a mere dream, Incognito. Maybe it's high time for Lopezes to come back to Iloilo and start investing. One thing for sure, revival of the oldest air transportation is a must. If not the old name, they can rename it to Pan-Iloilo Airlines (or whatsoever) and starts operating Iloilo-Manila route and Iloilo-Mindanao routes, with Iloilo as their base airport. ha ha ha. What a dream indeed for all Ilonggos! But of course, not now, maybe in next few years. Who knows?

good improvement, indeed. We need wider road going to the airport. Besides, it'll be used by all private (maybe public, too) vehicles going to and fro the airport.

It will be possible if we have to make a good and conducive market for Iloilo. LGUs between the city and the provinces must help each other in tourism (Please pray that they stop political mudslinging between the city hall and the capitol due to partisan politics).

Having a simpler "Iloilo Aiport" would be enough for a while.

Strong words there fella, why must? Hopefully, the Lopezes will or may invest in air transpo again but again, they would focus themselves with ABSCBN since they are raking profits out of it. ABSCBN Iloilo is even far behind than its Bacolod counterpart when it comes to facilities. (thats why majority of Ilonggos are kapuso )

However, I pray that Iloilo-Mindanao (especially Gensan) would have inexpensive flights to attract students and the rest of Ilonggos in Cotabato region to take the plane. Para indi na sila maglagas kon manug-registration kag bakasyon. Start in less frequent flights then gradually increase the frequency if the routes started to have air traffic passenger demand increase.

I overheard taxi drivers last time I went home that there might be a shuttle service for employees and somewhat a cooperative or an organizing body for public transportation of the airport. I dunno if its true.

it would take you about 15 minutes... its not a long trip at all.. so 10-13 pesos lang yun... at this moment, the only access sa airport is the Quirico Espano Avenue and Gaub Municipal/Privincial road... when the access road in Sta. Barbara is finished, i bet a new line of jeepneys will be born...hmmm maybe it would be...(Iloilo City-Sta Barbara- Iloilo Airport) or (Iloilo City- Cabatuan via Iloilo Airport)...

basi i-regulate nila ang mga public jeepneys magsulod sa airport. There will be a shuttle service from the airport pagguwa. It's very likely to have those route mentioned above pero "bangga airport or bga." lang siya siguro. Even then, mas maayo na.

Thanks for reposting @Kirby. I'll recheck if I still have more new airport photos in my photobucket. The first turn of our car through the new airport's access road really amazed and impressed me. It's breathtaking and well-planned indeed. The center gives way the best of the new airport.

Here's what you can do to escape the expensive taxi fare or backpackers who hate to spend more:

Sakay kamo taxi halin sa airport dason hambalon nyo sa taxi driver nga didto lang kamo sa Banwa kang Santa Barbara, sa may dampi plaza. Dason, pagpanaog nyo didto sa Plaza ukon sa Bangga Dama, sakay kamo dayon Sta.Barbara-Hiway (kon pakadto kamo SM ukon City Proper) or Sta.Barbar-LaPaz (kon paJaro or Lapaz kamo). Ti, makabarato pa kamo sa plete nga daan eh! hahahaha!!! **

Take a taxi ride from the airport and tell the driver that you'll just be in Santa Barbara town proper, afterwhich you can ride a jeepney going to the city. P15 lang plus more or less P50 to P70 taxi fare as compared to P150 (if metered, just an estimate based on experience) taxi fare. **

**Pahibalo: Ini nga aviso ay pwede lang sa mga marot, sa mga wa'ay dala nga bagahe nga may dala nga balikbayan box ukon sa mga di guid ya gusto magpaplete sang mahal.
