70 Pine St..The forgotten beauty?

Probably my favourite skyscraper in the world..is this on of the more forgotton beauties in New York? Built in 1932 at 952 feet it is the 6th tallest in New York!

Anyone have pictures from inside, a bit of info about it, who occupies it etc?

Yes, i like it too. It's one of my favourite art-deco skyscrapers. So many years it looked so tall, but now...

It's an art deco relic of the 30's but it is a masterpiece of architecture. Shame it and 40 Wall Street have been obscured by boxes and ugly buildings like 60 Wall St and One Chase Manhattan Plaza.

Beautiful beautiful building. It's a shame what all those box behemoths did to it and 40 Wall

Oh no, it's not a forgotten beauty. It may be surrounded and not as prominent as before, but it still stands above most buildings and definitely one of New York's finest gems

Regarding current info about 70 Pine, found this on curbed the other day:

http://blog.archpaper.com/wordpress/...8A%2FN+Blog%29

...seems like they're going for a residential conversion. Could become some great apartments.

Pics from the old observation lounge - looking north and south:

And a great pic taken from the air:

Uhm, for some reason it seems like I posted the same pics from the old observation twice.

Btw, the pics are from the 70 Pine thread over at wirednewyork. You can find more pics/info over there.

It's apparently being converted into apartments now.

Following Woolworth, this is my second favourite old building in lower manhattan.

That ugly building with the fake 'pillars' ruins it, though.

I hope they install LEDs to light the crown again some time in the future to compliment 1 WTC's spire.

If it's going to be residential, that's unlikely.
