Why does Dubai continue to attract so many expats? That growth in 2000-2010 is huge and from 1990 up till then its insane how its quadrupled.

The UAE is turning into an extension of South Asia...

Inevitable really. They need labour, South Asia has loads. Its a supply-demand complementary relationship.

labours are not the only south asian there, they many many middle class and rich south asians as well, dubai has a number of Indian billionaires. South asians in general love living in UAE, it's only the labour class that doesn;t and yes they should be treated well

How does Dubai get enough freshwater to cater to 2 million people?

Desalination plants I assume. No other way really. I doubt it ever rains there.

Actually, it rains abot 88 mm there each year. That is 28 days of precipitation each year.

But, still, it is mostly a city of the sun. With a record of 48 C, it is one smoking hot city.

But it has reached a record low of 7 C, during the day.

In fact, when I was there in October, it rained one day between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It was a short and heavy rain.
