Jobs for people who love skyscrapers?

Other than the obvious (architect) what are some jobs that skyscraper nerds such as myself should consider? I am finishing up high school soon and am looking at different career possibilities.

Real estate developer / property developer (promotor inmobiliario in spanish, i don't know the exact name for that in english, the company that buys terrains to build and sell houses), so you will be the one who proposes to build a tall building instead of a short one. Usually the architect decides almost nothing, he just follow orders from the real estate company.

I personally plan to be an engineer. I'm absolutely fascinated by the physics behind skyscrapers and by how buildings work

General contracting is one option -- anything from trades (starting as an apprentice) to project management (starting with bachelors in civil engineering or construction management). Either way, you usually make more than an architect, at least in the first half of each career and possibly forever (a union carpenter makes $38/hour in my city, iirc, and a first year project engineer might be in the $60/year range).

If you want to see them going up and follow the process, construction engineering could be an interesting choice. Though, I guess you have to live in or near a major city to ever work with skyscrapers.
I've been interested in skyscrapers for as long as I can remember, and plan to work with big buildings as a civil engineer. But when it comes to skyscrapers, Norway doesn't have NIMBYs, but NIMPOTWs. Not In My Part Of The World. People in Oslo were complaining when they planned to build a twenty-story building in Karasjok (3000 kilometres away by car). It's unlikely that I ever will work on a skyscraper, but I'll be satisfied by understanding how they work and such.

EDIT: As for architecture, take a moment to consider the amount of skyscrapers versus the amount of architects in the world. You have to be very specialized to work with such big buildings, and the market doesn't always scream for more people to draw skyscrapers.

If you're too stupid or lazy to study any of these, just start a forum on the topic.

Structural engineering.

Construction will get you up close and personal, but it's a tough job and not very many in construction actually get to work on highrise structures.

Ah, I remembered wrong. It was Kirkenes, 17 stories:

The comment fields on the news sites were boiling after the announcement, but it quickly died down.

One of my favourite shows is Human Planet (BBC series I think??) there is an episode on cities. At the start there is a guy who works on top of Dubai skyscrapers with a falcon. He looks after the falcon who chases away the pidgeons who try to shit all over Dubai skyscrapers. You get a bird's eye view in one of the most awesome places in the world; all you have to do is look after a bird!

Otherwise, a media commentator? Journalist, industry magazine writer, tv show presenter...
