It's pretty clear that this was designed for the 787, although their 1st delivery will only happen in 2018. It has the swoosh that all other special 787 liveries seem to be getting.

Many Indonesian aviation enthusiasts will be overjoyed by this......
....except me.
I'm not a big fans of alliance livery. In fact I'd prefer standard airline color instead of alliance livery

So sad to see the airplane in such state. I remember back in 1995 I saw the illustration drawing of Boeing 777 in China Southern color, announcing the arrival of the aircraft on their fleet in (then) future.
Now the future has become the past, and this aircraft awaits its fate.

I believe that's one of the very oldest 777-200ER's ever built--China Southern was a very early 777-200ER customer. They're being replaced by (I think) new-delivery 777-300ER's.

Oh yes. China Southern was among the earliest operator of Boeing 777-200ER, aside of British Airways, Alitalia, and Saudia. The type was initially powered by GE90 only. But later some planes are also powered by Trent 800 as well.
And I heard that this plane didn't came with PTV like other contemporary Boeing 777 at that time have/had.

The 777-200ER came from the start with a selection of GE, RR and PW engines.

This one was the 1st one for them. It's was the 4th delivered 777-200ER after 3 that were delivered to BA.

Boeing says 777 output may fall as losses narrow on 787

BY ALWYN SCOTT
Business | Wed Oct 21, 2015 2:53pm EDT

Quote:
Boeing Co (BA.N) posted better-than-expected quarterly results and lifted its financial outlook on Wednesday, but signaled it may juggle plane production to keep profits flowing as one of its two main cash cows dries up.

Boeing said it could cut production by as much as 15 percent on its 777 long-range, widebody jetliner, one of its most profitable planes and a key source of cash.

The talk of a possible slowdown to as few as seven a month from the current 8.3 came as Boeing posted narrower losses on its 787 Dreamliner and voiced confidence in that plane's ability to generate cash and fill the gap.

The world's largest plane maker said it also is still considering an increase in production of the single-aisle 737, its other main cash cow, despite concerns from engine maker CFM International, a joint venture between General Electric Co (GE.N) and Safran SA (SAF.PA) of France, about meeting those rising rates.

Taken together, the moves would cushion the blow of what had already appeared to be an inevitable 777 production cut as Boeing shifts to a newer model, the 777X, in 2020, because it has failed to sell out all of the remaining production slots.
