Would not be surprised. That is a lot of money to spend on airplanes. I wish all airlines had a wallet like Emirates had.

Just like Lufthansa, who recycled their old registration into their brand new Boeing 747-8, Garuda apparently followed the suit and re-applying PK-GIA registration to their brand new Boeing 777-300ER.

The registration was previously applied to their DC-10. And the old PK-GIA is the last surviving Garuda's DC-10. It is still derelict at Garuda Maintenance Facility apron in Jakarta.

Sure. But remember: Emirates is a government-owned entity with a privatized management, so the funds to buy their aircraft comes from the government... I then wonder if EK will introduce a new Premium Economy cabin once the 777X project is underway.

100+ 777s, 90 A380s, 70 A350s, and more widebodies. EK is daddy's spoiled little brat. But it's respectable in the airline industry though.

I'm already thinking: if PAL gets 20+ B777Xs, I think that the Philippine aviation industry will finally wake up and head into the right direction towards aviation growth and development. I truly hope that once the aircraft production begins for the B777X, hopefully, it will have better features than the current 77L and 77W models, and I hope that it will continue its legacy as one of the most popular twin-engine, wide-bodied aircraft for a long time.

Boeing would be completely mental if they did not keep any of the designs of the current 777 program. They will probbly enhance some the designs. They would not waste money. They need to make money.

I hear delivery should be in Mid to late June. I do think it will fly down to Portland (KPDX) within the coming weeks, if not days!

The Japanese planes usually do carry some interesting paint jobs on their planes. They are cool to look at.

Can't wait to see the wings on the new 777. There is going to be some serious flex in them.

So, just like the current Boeing 777, there will be two version: the short one and the long one.

The first 777-300ER for Garuda Indonesia PK-GIA takes off from KPAE to KPDX for a short flight where upon return this aircraft will sport Garuda's full livery.

The -9x will be longer than the current -300 & the 8x will be in between the size of the current -200 & -300.

Yes the fuselage will remain the same width, though inside they are going to make the cabin wider to better accommodate 10 abreast seating.

The 777X-8 looks a bit similar to the 777-200 in terms of length, while the 777X-9 looks similar to the 777-300. However, I sense that a bigger difference lies with the wings... hopefully, those aircraft will perform similar, if not better, to the current 777 models today... also cabin-wise, hopefully, the number of seats will be similar as well.

If Boeing wants a plane that will have similar performance then the current generation they will.......... not change anything to the design and not launch the 777X.

The 777X that will be longer, have better engines and a bigger but lighter wing will have, as Boeing claims 20% better economics then the 777-300ER.

The 777-8X will be stretch from the 777-200LR, with 10-abreast seating it will have a similar capacity as a 9-abreast 777-300ER but with an even bigger range. The 777-9X will be longer then the 777-300ER, in a typical 3-class layout it will have 50 more seats then the -300ER and the A350-1000, breaking into 747-8I territories.
