Yes it will.

So the route will be London-Jakarta-Sydney.

Even the CEO of Garuda Indonesia (Mr. Emirsyah Sattar) said that Sydney bound passengers from London won't have to change aircraft, or even leaving the aircraft!

I know. It's just that you don't need to type it in all caps... you can just say, "good news! (Insert news item)". It's more like a sense of decency and respect for our fellow members, that's all... conveying your message in all caps makes me think you're shouting, and it's not good.

It's a basic netiquette
Wherever or whatever the forum is, the rule will always be the same.

The excessive usage of capital letter will always be translated as offensive remarks.

Now back to the topic.

Kenya Airways (KA) has placed order for three Boeing 777-300ER in which the first aircraft is going to be delivered to KA by October of this year (Source). The other two aircrafts will be delivered by mid-2014. This is the part of their aim of increasing their fleet from 44 to 107.

What else interests me is if that tail of China Southern is really a 77W or is it yet another classic?

It's a 777 freighter.

There are no classics on order anymore, the last 2 were delivered to ANA and Asiana earlier this year.

There aren't that much 777-200LR on order anymore as well, just 3. With 2 for Turkmenistan Airlines and 1 BBJ and no big orders on the horizon it won't be too long before the 777F remains the only 772 sized version of the 777 that will keep on rolling out of the factory in Everett.

Will there be a freighter version for any of the upcoming 777X aircraft, or will it remain in the 772 style? And by the way, the 77F looks really sleek and wide, compared to the A300-600F (ABF)... I wonder though about its range since I see that aircraft being deployed in really long haul journeys?

To those in the know-how, I'm curious, how many flight tests does Boeing carry out for the B77W's before they head out to the paint shop? Also, how many test flights are conducted afterwards before the delivery flight?

It's predicted that the 777-8X, will be the base for a new freighter.

But it will come very close to the 747-8F in size, they might give it some time before they launch it just for the 747-8F to have some more life. It also depends on customer interest. I could also see Boeing just add the new engines to the current 777F.

I looked up the flights for a couple of recently delivered 777. Usually the flight to the paint shop is the 2nd flight, except if there's an issue during the 1st flight. After paint it's usually 3 to 5 flights before delivery.

Bloomberg reports that Lufthansa will go for the 777-9, although it's not yet officially confirmed by Lufthansa or Boeing.

Quote:
Lufthansa Said to See Boeing-Airbus Split on Jet Order

Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA) will split an order for about 50 wide-body aircraft between Airbus SAS and Boeing Co. (BA), a purchase with a list value of at least $14 billion, people with knowledge of the matter said.

The twin-engine jets will be Boeing’s new 777-9X, which is due to fly by decade’s end, and Airbus’s A350-900, said two of the people, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t yet public. An announcement may come as soon as next week, the people said.

Boeing jets will make up a majority of the order, said one of the people.

Even if it's split between the 777-9 and the A350-900 it will still be considered a big win for Boeing. Mainly it would mean that they won't go for the A350-1000, the type which competes directly with the 777-300ER and the 777-9X

When launched later this year it will also give Boeing a good geographically diverse group of launch customers. Expect a major order from East or South East Asia as well, Cathay, JAL and ANA are still in the running and are part of the customer panel of airlines that Boeing has invited to come to Seattle and fly in a 777-9 simulator and talk about the design.

We should know in a few weeks if the sources are actually correct that Lufthansa will be 1 of the launch customers. Rumors like this, even if they come from people that are actually in the know can still turn out differently.

Thanks for sharing that information. So there is about 7 on average flights after roll out and delivery.

There was an article out saying that ANA is looking to place an order for 25 planes. They did mention the 777X program. Do you think we could see a group order consisting of one of the ME carriers (EK), Lufthansa or one of the Japan Airlines launching the 777X? There was a group order to launch the 787-10. Off topic but has any leasing agencies express any interest in the 777X once it is launched?

Air Lease Corp has been mentioned as a launch customer, but there's hasn't been too much noise from the leasing companies about the 777X recently. That's also why a diverse group of launch customers will be important for Boeing because that will attract the leasing companies to the plane.

In case if you're wondering the where about of Boeing 777 prototype. It turned out that the plane is now flying with Cathay Pacific as B-HNL. I was lucky enough to photograph this airplane when it visited Surabaya, Indonesia.

More info about the aircraft.
