Change it to "Ruler of the skies"

I don't get why people call it a she either. Its a machine, you don't name your toaster.

That's just poor grammar. In Lithuanian, jet is ''he''. In some other language it might be ''she'', so people use it

Apparently, there are 2 reasons behind this.

1) Poetically, the English language has a tradition of refering to anything large and/or beautiful in the female agenda. It's admired as one might admire a beautiful woman. Mother Earth, mother nature, countries, ships, vehicles, trains, airplanes...

2) Language. German, which English was descended from, has genders in language. When refering to a machine, the female gender form is used.

But we don't have to use it. It's mostly a few Americans that use genders on machines, like "queen of the skies" is by the American Boeing. You don't usually see a B737 or A380 or TU144 with genders.

Wait! There's a B-52 Stratofortress in the middle of the picture, in the grass.

It's interesting that Boeing 777 could easily dwarfed B-52...

This tradition is derived from navy which is always considered ship as female since Phoenician times because sailors and now, pilots, were and are men.

But it is a free world. You can call them whatever suits you.

From the view in the back it's clear that this is just a small fence between the apron and the taxiways. It's not there to keep the outside world out of the airport perimeters.
