Plus its a really long walk from the remote stands at LAX to the actual terminal. Those stands are used for extra parking when a flight has a long lay over at LAX and they dont want to use valuable parking spaces at the terminal.

Add Singapore Airlines to the list of potential 777X customers.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/...A190L020140210

They are considering an order for 40 777Xs or A350s, but according to the article no order is to be expected at the Singapore Airshow that starts tomorrow.

Singapore Airlines already has 70 A350-900s on orders, in terms of communality an A350-1000 order might seem more logical. But since the 777X will have similar type rating as the 30 787-10s that Singapore Airlines it would also be interesting to increase the size of the future Boeing subfleet.

So they join ANA, Ethiopian, British Airways that all have come out expressing interest in the 777X. Is there really going to be a placement of a 777X order at the airshow or is this all hype for the air show.

I think we can also add Air Canada to that list some time in the future considering they're going with an all Boeing fleet.

But what will they do with the A319s, A320s, and A330-300s that are in the fleet now? Not to mention it operates quite a lot of Embraer and Bombardier aircraft... I might think that if AC goes all-Boeing for their long-haul fleet, that would be a more accurate description since it won't give up its short-haul aircraft. And by the way, if AC operates the 777X, will that mean that the airline will operate like three different 777 types (77L, 77W, and the upcoming one)?

And also, is there any hint that Emirates and Cathay Pacific might also get the 777X too? Both airlines operate nearly every possible kind of B777 in operation, especially the former (772, 77L, 773, 77W)...

Retire them, they just ordered a bunch of 737MAX to replace all of the a319s, a320s and a321s currently in the fleet. The a330s may go when the rest of the 787 fleet comes in for commonality's sake. One would imagine they continue to operate EJets or Bombardiers on the small end, but anything over 100 seats is likely Boeing by the end of the decade for AC. And I would imagine a 777-9 order is a matter of when, not if with how happy they've with the 77Ws.
I have to say I am a little surprised they haven't ordered any CSeries jets, given its a Canadian manufacturer and all, maybe they will end up using C100s to replace the E190s.

And if you hadn't heard Emirates ordered 115 777-9s and 35 777-8s at the Dubai Airshow late last year, Cathay Pacific also has firm orders for 21 777-9s. You know, that day in November when they sold $95 Billion worth of 777s.

I think I missed that news from November on the huge sales made by EK and CX... I will look back here and see if I made any thoughts on that.

As for commonality, the next question would be, where will all those Airbus aircraft go? Those aircraft have a lot of very cool features, from PTV and AVOD, to AC plugs in nearly every seat, to even lie-flat seats on A330's business class... But mind you, the B777 has become a game changer for AC's long-haul development.

Air Canada will most likely buy the 778, and 9 to replace they're L, and W version in the future.

BTW the MAX order only replaces the 320, and 321 so there is still a chance of a C Series order to replace the 319.

A blurry shot of Cathay Pacific B-HNL (former Boeing 777 prototype) covered in ashes in Surabaya Juanda airport, after an overnight eruption of mount Kelud. The photo was taken using cellphone camera. Despite the rumor that the aircraft could made it out from Surabaya, it turned out that it is still stranded in Surabaya (as I wrote this message).

A larger and brighter image of a Boeing 777, trapped under volcanic ashes at Surabaya Juanda airport.
Yes, this aircraft is Cathay Pacific's B-HNL, which is actually a former Boeing 777 prototype, and the very first Boeing 777 to fly.

It is very sad to see this aircraft in this way. But happily, the aircraft eventually able to depart Surabaya at 5.30 pm today. After more than two days of delay.
