You mean United Airlines? I don't think they stopped service to the Middle East nor to the affected region...

...stopped flying over eastern Ukraine.

It was not just United, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration already issued a warning in April that all U.S. airlines should avoid flying over this area. It was not a warning because of possible hostilities against American civilian planes. It was because of possible conflicts between the Russian and the Ukrainian air traffic control. It was unclear which country would have the controls over the air above this part of Ukraine.

Probably the carriers that would most likely fly over that part of Ukraine (and hence have to be avoided) would be:

- United (Washington-Dubai, Washington-Bahrain)
- Delta (Amsterdam-Mumbai)

I don't know other US carriers who would fly over that part aside from those two and those flights...

There is no conflict between Russia and Ukraine about who should manage eastern Ukrainian airspace. There's a conflict over Crimean peninsula airspace, which has been under control of Russian ATC for 4 months now. After Simferopol center began back in March working under Russian jurisdiction, Ukrainian authorities issued NOTAM that this was illegal and every1 should stay out of there, Russian authorities issued NOTAM that Ukrainian NOTAM is b/s and that every1 is welcome, and so on... This 'NOTAM war' lasted a few days and resulted in third nations' (incl. US and EU) aviation authorities recommending not to use or prohibiting using Crimean airspace to avoid any conflicts.
But eastern Ukrainian airspace remains under Ukrainian control de-jure and de-facto.

If you hear what air crash investigators consistently state, is that, it takes more than one phenomena to bring down a jetliner. MH370's crash cannot be fully ascertained at this point since there's no definite radar path hours after it took off nor the wreckage site. If the wreckage is not found in the next five years, it will probably be chalked down as having experienced the proverbial 'Bermuda Triangle effect'.

My guess is that MH370 crashed somewhere in the deep & expansive Indian Ocean waters with very little break of the aircraft. That aircraft probably settled at the bottom of the ocean near intact and got covered entirely by the ever moving ocean current mud/silt. It might explain why no oil slick has ever been found.

...I think no commercial flights should fly over war zones yet everyone sees fly over routes and many commercial aircraft did fly over this area till this plane was destroyed. I don't agree but something to take into account was the flight path elevation. There was a restricted zone at a lower elevation than commercial flights. You would think commercial jets flying around 32,000 ft would be ignored by conflict below? Ukrainian or Russian aircraft would be flying lower and all the downed aircraft in the previous week was in this situation. Technology and a person keen to bring down an enemy combined to make today's news...I don't think anyone wanted to down a commercial airliner let alone Malaysian Airlines...freak things happen in world history...just lots of nice peaceful humans have paid the price.

Please, Air Koryo's planes are much more modern and advanced! This is just a stolen model created by the Dear Leader in the 1950s.

Number 500

Milestone deliveries are always special. And the one today in Everett was a proud moment for everyone who has ever been associated with the 777 program.

We delivered our 500th 777-300ER to Emirates this morning. Ten years after its first delivery, the airplane still remains the market leader and a passenger favorite.

Thanks to Emirates and all 37 of our 777-300ER customers around the world for your continued confidence in the airplane.

ANA has finalized their order for 20 777-9Xs and 6 777-300ERs.

Quote:
Boeing, All Nippon Airways Finalize Order for 40 Widebody Airplanes

TOKYO, July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE:BA] and All Nippon Airways (ANA) today finalized an order for 40 widebody airplanes – 20 777-9Xs, 14 787-9 Dreamliners and six 777-300ERs (Extended Range) – as part of the airline's strategic long-haul fleet renewal plan. The order, valued at approximately $13 billion at list prices, was originally announced as a commitment in March.
"The aircraft we have selected will enable us to modernize and expand our fleet further as we seek to become one of the world's leading airline groups," said Shinichiro Ito, president and CEO, ANA Holdings. "These new aircraft will give us maximum flexibility and improved fuel efficiency, and will allow us to meet the growth in demand, both internationally and in our domestic Japanese market."

Boeing's 777X has accumulated 300 orders and commitments from six customers worldwide.

Japan Airlines B777-300ER, "JAL Sky Suite 777" (reg. JA731J)

I can sense that the little bulge near the middle part of the fuselage (just above the Airlines text and the Japanese flag) protruding on top is the WiFi (WiMAX) transmitter... is that correct?
