That's a very big plane.

Anyway,

Boeing booked an order for 10 777-300ERs by an Unidentified Customer last week.

http://active.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.cfm

"We’re proud to announce the addition of 10 more #Boeing 777-300ERs to our 2014 order tally"
https://twitter.com/BoeingAirplanes/...39838204706818

Slowly but steadily filling up those open 777 classic production slots running up to the start of the production of the 777X.

So a 777-9 will realistically sell around $200-220m. Damn, that's expensive!

Hmmm... Looks like quite a pricey deal. But, do those fluctuate based on the number of seats, classes, cabin amenities, etc? How will the final price/s be determined if those are the baseline costs?

It's not the base price, it's the list price. It's a start price for sales negotiations where things you list are usually not that relevant.

Boeing will offer big discounts to airlines based on the size of the order and the historic relationship with the airline. The competition with Airbus also drives the prices down, pulling customers in with large discounts. Airbus does exactly the same, it's not something specific for one of the manufactures.

Airlines have to buy the seats and IFE systems etc., but also the engines themselves. Boeing will only charge the airline the airline for the installation, which are simply part of the agreed price. It's only a small part of the total costs for Boeing, it's not something that determines the final price.

What does matter are the added services, like financing options, spare parts deals, maintenance service deals, etc. Those are very profitable for Boeing, making it sometime even interesting to actually sell planes under cost price. The services will continue to generate profit for a longer period after the delivery, that means it's a steady income independent from the number of planes Boeing will keep on delivering.

To add to that, GE (and probably RR too) sometimes sells engines at cost or even a slight loss and makes it up with maintenance agreements.

Kuwaiti media is reporting that Kuwait Airways is in talks with Boeing for an order between 8 and 10 777s.

http://news.kuwaittimes.net/kuwait-a...eing-777-jets/
http://www.alqabas.com.kw/node/888805

It's of course directly linked with last weeks UFO order for 10 777-300ERs, but the negotiations are supposed to be in a very early stage and it's also not clear if it's for 777-300ERs or for the 777X. And with a large number of Airbus planes coming in, first the temporary leased A332s before the 10 A359s that they bought from Airbus earlier this year it's not yet clear what role these 777s will have. It will be a significant increase in capacity, which could be a bit too optimistic. It's not that strange that it's already reported that these talks are political as there was some criticism from politicians that the airline was only ordering Airbus planes. So all in all it's not 100% certain that these talks will actually result in an order, time will tell.

Kuwait Airways currently operates 2 777-200ERs which are expected to be replaced by the A350 when they are delivered from 2019.

There are sources citing that Sri Lankan Airlines is also evaluating the possibility of adding 777-8X's to the Sri Lankan Fleet to improve the current long haul routes. Also with these aircrafts the airline would be able to serve cities in North America and South America. The demands for New York and Toronto are to be tested using the existing A340's after November before being retired by flying these aircrafts temporarily to both John F. Kennedy International Airport and Toronto Pearson International Airport. If ordered, sources cite that there is a high chance of adding at least 10 of these aircrafts

That's really awful...

Someone actually got paid for coming up with that shit. That's not even a real livery. Just a logo and titles (Is that font Arial???).

Holy crap what happened with the livery. It looks worse than Japan Airlines. This is an all time low in the Euro white livery category. I hope to god that this is just a joke and they repaint it with a more traditional livery. Come on, China Eastern has so many other special liveries that look way better than this one. I was hoping they would stick with the current livery that they have. With the air pollution in China this livery is going to look like shit in no time.
