Emirates you may now begin your base leg in preparation for landing. Maintain visual separation between you and the 777 in front of you.

Boeing has selected GE Aviation to provide common core avionics and electrical power systems for its twin-aisle 777X aircraft. Under the contract, GE will provide its common core system (CCS), enhanced airborne flight recorder (EAFR), electrical load management system (ELMS), and backup generator and converter for the 777X.

I've noticed TG have gone with the smaller cargo doors on their B77W's. Why do carriers go with this option considering it reduces the resale value? From my understanding VA's 4 out 5 B77W's have the smaller cargo doors.

Boeing booked an order for 6 777s from an unidentified customer last week.
http://active.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.cfm

The model is not specified, but it's most likely the 777-300ER or the 777F. Boeing is selling those per 6 this year and a 777X order would have most likely been properly announced.

Boeing has to be happy about that.... i was reading an article how there is a slot gap between the original 777 program and the 777xs. So some airline got a good deal.

Deferring can of course mean pushing back the delivery a couple of years but also a couple of months.

Last year Air France deferred their A380s, instead of taking delivery of 4 in 2013 and 2014 they only took 1 each year. So it doesn't necessarily mean that we won't see new 777s join the Air France or KLM fleet in the next 2 years. But it does mean that it won't be all that were previously planned.

Now that Air France-KLM opted to defer its B777-300ER delivery... from Reuters:

Air France-KLM deferral of Boeing 777 raises concern

Boeing should look into this and allow other airlines to order more B777s in order for the production to continue as usual before the aircraft manufacturing giants transitions to producing the B777X full-time.
Quote:
Boeing Co faced a potentially larger gap in production of its 777 jetliner after Air France-KLM said on Thursday that it plans to defer delivery of 10 Boeing 777s following its third profit warning in six months.

Boeing is on track to build about 500 777s before it transitions to the successor 777X model in 2020, based on its current production rate of 100 a year. Through November, it had orders for 267 of those planes.

Boeing has said it is confident it will sell the additional 233 planes before the 777X enters service. It declined to comment on Air France-KLM.
