It looks kinda medieval. Maybe it's supposed to look like a castle to appeal to the egos of the wealthy fu--s who will live there.

I don't think the Zeckendorfs do cheap. They went for limestone all the way up just like at 15 CPW. It's actually somewhat amusing for people to keep saying these buildings seem cheap as they have some of the highest costs per square foot ever.

It's actually Larry Silverstein who cheaped out by going pre-cast instead of limestone down at 30 Park Place.

you're the only one, yes. Limestone always looks better upon completion. Also, look at 30 park place, limestone painted precast concrete, it looks ugly. Limestone is always better

Beautiful photos. You can see here how 520 Park will help repair the 432 Park dominated view down Park Avenue a little.

Four Stern towers in one shot.

I absolutely love the impact of 432 Park on the skyline, and to think Steinway and CP Tower are on their way...
Really hope we get more of those towers in the city.

From this angle it kind of looks like the bell tower of that church. If they'd used the same brick and stone color combination than this would be the tallest and coolest church tower ever.

Yea not sure at all what the thinking was behind the white frames. I doubt this was a VE option, but it doesn't look great. Would've been nice had they used something like the beautiful bronze being used at 70 Vestry.

Definitely. Darker window frames always look better, specially in this kind of designs. The renders look better because the frames are not white, they are almost the same color of the facade. Other architects, Peter Pennoyer to be more specific, have used brown or black frames and achieve great results.

If anyone is interested The Real Deal did a mini feature with Paul Whalen, Daniel Lobitz and Michael D Jones, the three partners in charge of high-end residential at Robert AM Stern Architects. It's very insightful into the firm's process, and it gives a rare look at the inner machinations of the firm. These three (along with Alex Lamis) are likely the future leadership of the firm should Bob decide to hang it up. Bob is nowhere to be found in this video (in fairness he's been in China opening Schwartzman College), but it is interesting that RAMSA has been pretty routinely putting Whalen, in particular, out there as a face of the firm (that could also just be a function of the firms more popular work lately being New York based and high-end residential, both of which are in Paul's wheelhouse). This mini-doc touches on 30 Park Place and 520 Park (220 CPS I think is still up under wraps).

These three are really sensational architects and academic powerhouses (and Paul Whalen has a phenomenal Pinterest feed if you are an architecture and interior design junkie). I actually think that Daniel Lobitz's projects are quite good as well especially 70 Vestry and 875 California Street in San Francisco.

Great video. Their project in Xiamen is very impressive. I think Stern is this generation's Lutyens in America.
