The highest terrace is at the penthouse of the Time Warner Center. Not sure about the exact height, but probably around 700ft above street level. They've had trouble with stuff blowing down from it.

Look closely at the diagram and you will see that the elevation of the ground terrace is 43'5". Subtract that from the height figures, and you will get the correct numbers. The total height to the top of the bulkhead taken from ground level will be 780'7".

I believe you're correct. It is confusing though. I wonder if in Denver buildings are marked as 5,280+ ft tall? Ha!

London makes that mistake quite often with their labels, though not nearly as much height is added...

Demolition Update: 45 East 60th Street
http://newyorkyimby.com/

Quote:
Demolition is in full swing at 45 East 60th Street, which will soon give rise to a 780-foot residential tower designed by Robert A.M. Stern. The tower recently received approval to begin construction, which explains the swift action on-site; the former 45 East 60th Street is already down to its second floor, and will soon be reduced to a pile of rubble.

The new 45 East 60th Street will be the tallest tower on the Upper East Side, though the ‘tallest’ designation is semi-moot given the building’s proximity to Midtown. Though prominent by Upper East standards, the tower will be dwarfed by the giants along 57th Street, which will double the skyscraper’s height. The difference between 57th Street and 60th will become increasingly pronounced as the new development boom gets underway, especially south of 45 East 60th Street.

In particular, the nearby 650 Madison Avenue has the potential to loom over everything, if it is indeed redeveloped. The Midtown East re-zoning will also alter the nearby skyline, opening the potential for massive towers to line the East Side avenues; 45 East 60th’s
prominence will be entirely relative, but its unique combination of ample FAR and location will make the tower a standout. Stern’s distinguished architecture is also sure to leave a pleasant impression, with the future tower set to employ classic aesthetics as well as a minor cantilever over its eastern neighbor.

It's a sh ame that Zeckendorf could not acquire the four dilapidated buildings to the west. They detract from this street.

I wonder when construction starts. I really want to see an official rendering released by Bob Stern. I hope this will be something along the lines of 15 CPW & 30 Park Place.

Small footprint... Eager for surrender. I imagine this building like 30 Park Place. Thin, tall and stone.

No, as per filing the height is listed 725 which is the highest occupied floor.

the top 3 floors (Floor 49-51) are mech floors and there will be a crown to encase the water tank on the roof which will give the architectural height of 780. (see diagram below)

Anyway, this is going to be another tall slender tower.

Does that diagram and the 780 ft. figure preclude the possibility of a spire topping out the crown? I'm so curious to know what Stern comes up with. The Sherry-Netherland is one of the most beautiful buildings in the City, with that Chateauesque steeple and spire, and I'd love to see something classically ornate like that go up.

15CPW was modeled after Candela apartment houses which feature concealed water tanks above the penthouses. Stern will probably take that approach rather than shoot for some Victorian fru fru at the top.

With 45 East 60th Street and 220 Central Park South both underway, Stern may become the undisputed champion of luxury starchitecture (more in link)
And.. don't forget 30 Park Place!

Bob is certainly a busy body these days & rightfully so. Looking forward to all 3 of his projects to rise.
