Supertall Tower Proposed At 1201 Brickell Bay Drive

Quote:
1/05/2016

Yet another supertall tower is in the works in Miami.

Tibor Hollo filed plans yesterday with the FAA to build a 1,044-foot tower on the former Villa Magna site at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive. The tower (or towers) would reach 1,049 feet above sea level.

Hollo’s revised proposal aims to take advantage of a recently increased height limit in the area of 1,049 feet above sea level. The increased limits have resulted in the approval of One Brickell City Centre and 300 Biscayne, while others are pending. In October, the FAA had approved Hollo’s older plan for a twin-tower project for the Villa Magna site, each reaching 995 feet above ground level, or 1,000 feet above sea level.

See? Panorama is on it's last lap to completion, now Hollo is getting Villa Magna warmed up. They will probably build a sales center and sell for a year before groundbreaking, but we do have progress.

The rumors were true, Fosters + Partners is designing these twin supertalls. The design looks amazing!

I love it! It's no Tower Verre but it will be iconic to Miami in its own right. Can't wait to watch this beauty rise.

Nice open design, but I'd say this is one tower, not two, but whatever,

Further details regarding this development

Preliminary plans for an 80 and 81-story project called The Towers by Foster and Partners have been obtained by TNM.

At ground level, the architect has designed a retail arcade between the two towers, which will allow pedestrians to pass through glass-enclosed retail and restaurants towards the baywalk. In total, there is 17,920 square feet of retail, restaurant and cafe space.

The architect is proposing three basement levels of underground parking, going as deep as 17 feet below sea level. A podium on levels 2 through 11 (above the retail space) also appears to have parking lined with residential, for a total of 771 spaces.

All of the floors above level 14 are either residences or amenities. The towers will be intermittently attached with a “residential bridge” every 5-7 levels. The proposal includes 660 units, half the 1,250 units allowed by zoning.

There are six levels of amenity spaces, perhaps the most of any condo project in Miami. Levels 12, 13, 48, 49, 72 and 73 are devoted to amenities.

The south tower will be slightly taller at 81 stories (1,049 feet above sea level,) with the north tower at 80 stories.

I dream of the day Miami has more supertall proposals than Dubai - and still never builds any of them. Seriously, what's the point? Just start one already.

this project is called "The Towers by Foster & Parters" (I recommend calling it 1201 Brickell Bay Drive in the title) and is expected to begin in 2019, possibly 2018.

Hollo told the Herald yesterday that both One Bayfront Plaza and The Towers By Foster + Partners in Brickell could begin construction in 2018, although it is more likely that work will begin in 2019.
