Great copilation, no offense intended here, but don't trash this thread with saturation, what makes you think uploading tons of pictures in a single post will make you so important? Even with DSL at its highest speed takes time to fill a page, during that time the frigging page keeps jumping back to the top...grow up you people.

Keep those pictures coming .

Swannanoa Palace

Swannanoa

Swannanoa is an Italianate villa built in 1912 by millionaire and philanthropist James H. Dooley above Rockfish Gap on the border of northern Nelson County and Augusta County, Virginia, in the USA. It was the Dooleys' summer home.

The house is nowadays referred to as Swannanoa Palace, but due to being abandoned and neglected for several years, the interior and large parts of the exterior are in a deplorable dilapidated state.

Somehow through all the time it was abandoned and neglected and even vandalized, the priceless Tiffany stained glass window at the main staircase has survived intact! Swannanoa is supposed to be haunted, so some have suggested that the window was protected by the ghost of Mrs. Dooley (who died at the house)!

The house is open for visitation during certain times of the year.

Wonderful! As you said the glass window really is precious. Will the house be fully restored?

There are rumors that the current owners want to turn it into a Bed & Breakfast, but the amount of money needed to restore it is well into the millions, so it may be a very long time until we see any significant restoration work done. For now they are trying to simply keep it from crumbling any further.
