Yes, the paperwork was just completed this week so mass promoting of the route will most likely commence after the inaugural flight on October 29, 2014.

The Borongan City Mayor and Councillors had a finalizing meeting in Manila with SkyJet's CEO, Dr Joel Mendoza (in the light blue shirt) last Monday.

OK nice. Are they using the BAe 146 jet or Dornier 328 turboprop for this route?
Will wait for the official announcement from the airline itself. Hopefully they will release promotions prior to that said inaugural flight so that people would know and if the route is bookable through their website or via ticketing office.
Hope they can attract more passengers to sustain the route and then to increase flight frequency.

I presume they're going to use the BAe 146, I haven't heard of them updating their current fleet.

This video of SkyJet's BAe 146 taking off at Baler Airport is what Boronganons can expect to see as the airport is about the same specifications in terms of runway length and overall layout...

good to hear that if they will use the BAe 146.. Skyjet was supposed to have 2 BAe's on their fleet but the other one is now under the waters of Balesin. I believe they have another leased aircraft which is a Dornier 328 turboprop (the one in the photo above) that they will be using for Boracay and Baler as well.

Accolade, do you happen to see if there's a control tower in the airport and also a fire station?

Pthfndr19, thanks for letting me know about their leased Dornier 328. This had me very intrigued to try and find out if they will be using it to fly to Borongan. My source who is close to the Mayor has let me know that SkyJet will most likey use the Dornier 328 for their flights until they see it viable/profitable to use their larger BAe 146.

As for a control tower or fire station, the right hand side of the terminal would most likely house emergency vehicles and also have a radio communications room above...

Based on this Visit Eastern Samar website, it will only be a Chartered flight using 32-seater Dornier 328 until it becomes profitable... The LGU will help on the promotion since they will shoulder or pay the unsold tickets.. and hopefully, the people will support on this.

it tried to ask Skyjet Air in Facebook if they are flying soon to Borongan, they said that they shall submit a request to CAB to seek approval.

I hope so I wouldn't want to see another SEAir scenario. Also yes, SkyJet will be using their albino Dornier 328.

SkyJet should of got the Dornier 328 Jet Model though, to live up to their "Jet Status" niche.
