Notice to Proceed and Contract Award signing has been issued with this project since 2013. The same contractor bagged the runway and apron as well as the passenger terminal building. No completion or turnover ceremony has yet been announced in the media as of now.

Didn't find anything recent, apart from this 8-month-old article from Inquirer.net:

Quote:
A 2-km-runway airport nearby is due for completion this year and promises to dramatically boost tourist traffic. The cementing of the access road from the capital of Puerto Princesa City, or what used to be a decrepit logging road through old growth forest, is just about finished and will effortlessly link the place to the urban hub.

Considering how things work in our corner of the world, the fact that it was "due for completion this year" (i.e., 2014) probably indicates that we should expect it to open sometime between 2015-2050.

But yeah, it would be nice if someone can give any fresh info on how the work is progressing.

Nice. small but simple. They can take more time developing San Vicente, hopefully, the right way. I believe from what I read it can take more beach lovers and handle more development than Boracay.

Search thru Google and still no latest news regarding this project. But I found in Youtube this video of a small plane landing in what is then known as San Vicente Airstrip.

This is not really an update, but reading from the posts here, this might well be. i took these pictures in June 2014 on a backpacking trip to san vicente. I jogged from end to end of the 2-km runway, which, in my estimation was 70% paved already. The terminal is slightly seen on the far center of the second picture where concrete (or metal) posts are already in place. Didn't take much photos since my purpose that early morning was to jog and just ran into the airport by chance. hope a lot of progress has been made one year on.

BTW, the runway is perpendicular to the shoreline with one end just about 200 meters or so from a long white-sand beach.

GREAT ! Thanks for posting ysapayan ! Quite some progress here, and such a nice terminal. Are there any grand resorts close to the airport already ?

There are hardly any resorts in San Vicente as of the moment, much less grand ones. its famed 14 km-long white beach where big ticket developers have been land(beach)banking, is about 5 kms away.

So for the first time in history a Philippine airport is ahead of tourism development, and definitely will spur investors to build their respective tourism-resort infrastructure.
