Site Work Beginning "Immediately" on One Thousand Museum

Downtown Pawn pwned by Zaha!

Quote:
The developers of Zaha Hadid's exoskeletonal pile of housing for the superrich, One Thousand Museum have officially closed on the purchase of the site according to the project's people, and "expect to begin site preparations immediately", which means soon-ish, which means you don't have much more time to get gas at the gas station or hawk your shit at the pawn shop that is currently on the site. Actual construction will begin later this fall.

Zaha Hadid's One Thousand Museum Breaks Ground

Quote:
One Thousand Museum, the tower designed by starchitect Zaha Hadid on Biscayne Boulevard in Downtown Miami, had its ground broken today by Zaha herself. There were black & white M&M's for snacking, Zaha was radiant, and dirt was ceremonially thrown.

I'd like to see her design another building for Miami. I'm really curious to see what it would look like.

Cool tower. That will be a lot of formwork labor.

Contractors Drill To Record-Breaking Depths To Build Foundation For Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum

Quote:
Contractors are digging deep to build the foundation for Zaha Hadid’s unique One Thousand Museum in downtown Miami.

Last week, crews completed the installation of an augercast pile that extends 155-feet below ground – the deepest ever in Dade County. Drilling extended as far as 160-feet below ground.

Over 50% Of Units Now In Contract

Quote:
More than half of units at Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum are now in contract, according to broker Miami Condo Investments.

The developers of the project received a boost this past weekend when two contracts were signed. The least expensive units now start at $5.5 million, or above $1,200 per square foot.

I just remembered this ZH proposal in the competition to design 425 Park Avenue in Manhattan. Look familiar?

This is the most interesting design I've seen since the Beekman Tower in NYC

Not a bad design, but without a doubt, one of the least impressive by Zaha Hadid. But they might as well build it- its not like Miami could get much worse.

Yes I see some similarity, New York missed out on a great tower IMO.

It's a great design, but I don't think it would work as well in New York as it would in Miami. The base would be entirely obscured, whereas in Miami it'll always be on display due to the park and water right in front.
