AirAsia to implement Airbus Managed Inventory service

Quote:
AirAsia has signed an agreement to implement the Airbus Managed Inventory (AMI) service for its A320 and A330 fleets at bases in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. The AMI service, which underlines Airbus’ strategy in offering customized services based on latest industry standards, ensures the automatic and continuous replenishment of high-usage and non-repairable parts at the customer’s facilities.

Anaz Ahmad Tajuddin, Group Head of Engineering of AirAsia says: “AirAsia is confident that the Airbus Managed Inventory service will support AirAsia and our associated company AirAsia X in paving the way for low-cost aviation through innovative solutions and efficient processes. With AMI we will minimize our spares investment costs while maximising delivery of parts when needed.”

Didier Lux, Senior Vice President of Customer Service at Airbus says: “Airbus continuously provides the best possible support to our customers.” He adds: “With Airbus Managed Inventory we are delighted to bring to AirAsia the benefits of our end-to-end supply chain solution covering a large range of Airbus expendables and standard parts.”

With this selection, AirAsia becomes the fourth customer in the region to choose the AMI automated inventory management solution. This service supports Airbus customers to reduce their inventory holding costs. By capturing material consumption information in real-time and automatically triggering replenishment orders within the agreed inventory levels, the service guarantees high on-shelf part availability while decreasing the overall inventory stock level.

The right aircraft, right now
AirbusFacts 1.1 billion passengers have flown on the A330

Quote:

The A330 Family has five members – the A330-200, A330-300, A330-200F, ACJ330 and A330 MRTT – which cover all market segments with one twin-engine aircraft type. The combination of low operating costs, high efficiency, flexibility and optimised performance makes the A330 Family popular with an ever-increasing operator base.

As another sign of its continuing success worldwide, Airbus handed over its milestone 1,000th A330 aircraft in July 2013. At the time of this landmark handover, A330 jetliners had logged some 25 million-plus flight hours on 5.5 million flights with carriers around the globe.

Airbus also has committed to continuously improving the programme since the A330’s service entry. The company spends approximately 150 million euros each year on enhancements and incremental improvements for the A330 jetliner family.

As a result of this ongoing improvement, Airbus has further enhanced the product line by offering an increased takeoff weight of 242 tonnes. This upgrade will first be applied to the A330-300 – with service entry planned from mid-2015 – and subsequently to the A330-200, allowing operators to carry additional payload on longer missions.

Airbus has also announced a lower-weight A330-300 Regional version, which is to enter service in early 2015. This aircraft will be optimised for use on domestic and regional routes in high growth markets – such as China and Asia – with concentrated traffic flows and is sized to accommodate up to approximately 400 passengers.

Commonality is further shared across the Airbus product line of widebody and single-aisle aircraft through the use of fly-by-wire controls and cockpits with similar layouts.

That's Manchester City. ManU would be red and gold.

Very nice video. They could have picked a better choice of music for the background.

I am not sure there is a dedicated A340 thread or at least I haven't seen it....

The Airbus A340-600 flew for the first time 13 years ago today

Perhaps I could ask to upgrade this thread to include the A340, but those are four-engined instead of two, and it is slowly being phased out for other aircraft...

Should that be the case, will the airline serve airports other than those with already-established services to Brazil (e.g. JFK, Miami, Chicago, Houston, LAX)? And by the way, does the A332 have the range to operate between Sγo Paulo or Rio and San Francisco since it seems that Brazilian flights from California originate from Los Angeles (with a daily by AA and up to 5x weekly by Korean Air)?

Their 1st destination is most likely going to be Fort Lauderdale. The Sγo Paulo - Florida is the biggest market to the US and Fort Lauderdale is also a JetBlue hub. Both airlines were founded by the same guy, so they are natural partners.

Sγo Paulo - San Fransisco is just a tidbit longer then the current longest flight on a A332 (Air Europa's Madrid - Buenos Aires). It should be possible, but they better wait until the A350s arrive to start such a route.

I see... that would be a good international route to start with to complement both Azul's and JetBlue's networks, and it can provide competition for the Miami-Brazil services since traditionally, Miami would be a major transit point for travelers heading to Brazil (with multiple frequencies by AA and TAM). Perhaps if the Azul flight is timed to make multiple connections out of Fort Lauderdale to JetBlue's network, I can sense this flight to become sustainable over time that it can help decongest Miami somewhat for such a long-haul service... yet I wonder if Azul would introduce Business or Premium Economy Classes on the A330s and A350s to make the journey pleasurable?
