Garuda Indonesia revamps A330 long-haul business class
http://atwonline.com/components/garu...business-class

Garuda Indonesia A330-300 with new business class with Super Diamond seats

Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is set to take delivery of four new Airbus A330-300 aircraft in 2016, all fitted with an enhanced business class.
The carrier’s new Super Diamond business class seats will introduce an “all-aisle” layout with a 1-2-1 seat configuration, along with a Panasonic EX3 inflight entertainment system driving 16-inch touch-screen LCD screens.

“Garuda is the first airline to implement the [EX3] service on its A330-300 aircraft,” Garuda CEO Arif Wibowo said.
The aircraft will offer a 287-seat cabin with 24 Super Diamond business seats and 263 economy class seats. The new seats will also convert to a fully flat-bed configuration with a 24-inch width and 82-inch extended length.

The new seat layout will also offer touchscreen handset/remotes, double USB plugs, and a new mini bar display to the seats.
In the economy cabin, the new A330s will see an upgraded economy seat layout, with a 4-inch recline and an 11-inch LCD touchscreen, extra handset/remote, USB plug and power outlet across all seats.

As part of its “Quick Wins” ongoing fleet upgrade and expansion program, the carrier is scheduled to take delivery of 13 other new and upgraded aircraft in 2016, including one Boeing 777-300ER, four ATR72-600s, and eight Airbus A320s to be operated by Garuda's regional subsidiary Citilink.

Quote:

Super Diamond Seat Business Class is available in our latest A330-300 24 seat configuration with 1-2-1.

Economy class in the A330-300 has the capacity of 263-seat configuration 2-4-2.

As in business class, the facilities in-flight entertainment in economy class has also been updated.

The seats in economy class has also been updated so that it has an extra room and are equipped with foot-rest.

1-2-1 in business class? This is 1st class standard, isn't it?

Not really, I believe some airlines already have 1-2-1 in J-class as well.

OY-KBC - 30th of May
OY-KBD - 29th of June

OY-KBI has just returned with new cabin and internet connection.

The last airplane they have rented from LAN/Airbus (LN-RKP) will not be converted so I think they will return in when the lease is over.
It will only be a backup plane when OY-KBM returns in service.

The last two A330 Enhanced will be delivered this spring and LN-RKT is soon ready.

Bele Viking was delivered last week and is ready for his/her first trip tomorrow from Copenhagen to Chicago.

The first revenue service for Bele Viking is delayed until tomorrow, the reason is insurance, whatever that means.

How many a330 neo sales have there been since product launch 20 months back . My reckoning is at least 120 but not near 200.

Airbus has booked 186 orders by 11 customers for the neo up to January 2016. 176x A330-900 and 10x A330-800.

From the downloadable Excel file on the Airbus and deliveries page.

So at a rough guesstimate of $25m per engine pair times 186, almost $5bn worth of engines. Thanks.

There are a few possible combinations for J class, depending on how you want to lay out your seats and on the aircraft:

1-1-1 would be for all-aisle access, in which window seats would actually be placed on a tangent so that the passenger would not suffer from too much glare when it is open. Examples:

Air Canada A330-300

- Cathay Pacific A340-300
- Jet Airways A330-200 V2

1-2-1 can either mean:

- all-aisle access (if you configure it like the herringbone format)
- part aisle access, part lovers seats (if you want you and someone else to sit right next to each other for all sorts of purposes)
- staggered configuration (meaning some seats will have 1 seat on the window side)

Examples include:

Iberia A340-600 V1

- Airberlin A330-200, 2-class
- Cathay Pacific A330-300 3-Class V1
- Delta Airlines A330-200

2-2-1 would mean the seats are laid out in a staggered format wherein passengers wanting window seats may choose from either a 1 seat (above) or two seats (similar to a lovers seat), and it is usually combined with a 1-2-1 seating configuration. Examples:

Swiss International Airlines A340-300

- Aer Lingus A330-200 V1
- Brussels Airlines A330-300

2-2-2 would be more likely used if the seats partly recline (not 180-degrees; also called "angle recline") or the airline wants to economize the space to allow in more Y class seating. Some airlines like Finnair and Hainan Airlines are able to use this format to allow full lie-flat (180-degree) seats to their advantage. Examples:

Philippine Airlines A340-300 V3 - with only 12 J class seats

- Aeroflot A330-200
- Aerolineas Argentinas A330-200
- Avianca A330-200
- Finnair A330-300 V1

In older aircraft, you would also see a 2-3-2 seating configuration, especially for regional aircraft. Heck, UA also has a 2-4-2 seating configuration for its J class as well, optimizing space (some seats, however, face backwards). Examples:

Emirates A330-200 3-class - 2-3-2 in J class

Etihad Airways A340-500 - 2-4-2 in J class

Astrid Viking is now on her way to San Francisco, she was delayed around 2,5 hours from Copenhagen.
But I don´t know if it was the departure from Zürich that was delayed, or if something happened in Copenhagen.
