Aqualandia - The future of the park

VENICE - Jesolo Lido

Aqualandia is going to fulfill an important step in the next future. In a short time will begin the works to build the largest themed water park in the world.

The project schedules the enlargement and the development of the present water park in a themed park of new design, where water is still the principal element but it will be able to offer relax and fun for 365 days per year.

Crystal Dome

The principal characteristics of the project are guinness records. In the new Aqualandia there will be a crystal dome of 8.000 square metres, unique of this kind, and inside there will be a wellness center, a playing area with water slides, waterfalls, whirlpool baths.

Revolving Tower

The main theme will be the same that now characterizes so strongly Aqualandia: the tropics. There will be also a hotel-resort, 15 floors height with 300 5-star rooms. Next to the hotel-resort will rise a 170 metre revolving tower. At the top of the tower, divided in 4 floors, there will be a luxury restaurant and an exclusive bar where the guests will enjoy the wonderful view: Venice and the Croatian coasts. Outside, on the top of the tower, will be installed a platform for the bunjee jumping, where it will be possible to jump at more than 150 metres height. It will be the highest platform for this sport in the world.

Oceanic waves

On a 30.000 square metre area will be built the first pool in the world with oceanic waves, 3 metres height. The waves can be ridden with surfboards and at the border of the pool it will be possible to relax on the white caribbean sand and have fun in different entertainment, disco-bar and restaurants open night and day.

Oh man, the observation tower looks far tackier than the three-winged building by a lot! Far too casino-ish.

Is it a way of life in Venice to put highrises in the middle of nowhere ?

This is not completely correct because the Merville Tower is part of a big project that includes some towers. This is the project:

Jesolo City Beach

Official Website: http://www.jesolo2012thecitybeach.it/en/

The Master Plan

The town of Jesolo called one of the six greatest town planners of our time to imagine the Jesolo of the future together with the administrators: Kenzo Tange. He is the inventor of the modern aspect of Japan. He is more than a town planner, he is a humanist whose projects affected the development of cities such as Bologna, Milan, Baltimore, Edinburgh, San Francisco, and Tokyo. All his interventions concern not only building, but also quality of life, sustainable development, economic-environmental landscapes. Jesolo Master Plan originated from professor Tange's study, and it made it possible to create a single urban environment, a place no longer divided into a central and a tourist area, by marking the boundaries of a "summer town", widened to embrace the whole coast, and of a "winter town", which is spatially more limited in order to avoid dispersion of people and facilities. The road plan was reviewed and the urban expansion was organized, by planning areas devoted to nature, sport and entertainment, thus developing Jesolo attractions which are not closely related to summer and sea tourism.

The Future

The ideal which stands at the base of Jesolo urban renovation aims at a global revitalization of the town. From a simple, dynamic and sparkling seaside town, Jesolo gets ready to become a real City Beach. A seaside resort where one can live all year round by using the utilities and comfort of the city but with the climate, the relax, the fun and the entertainment offered by a tourist resort. In proportion, it is the same concept which stands at the base of the development of cities such as Barcelona, a centre of modernity, entertainment and high quality of life.

With the completion of Mestre link road and with the adjustment of the road system to enter the town, which is already envisaged by the town plan, in a short time it will be possible to live in Jesolo and move easily to work in one of the cities or manufacturing areas of the region. Jesolo is getting ready to become "Veneto city beach".

Ok I understand better. But do they have enough money to build all these towers on nowhere ? It's very Dubai-ish, ecologicals must be very angry ...

I think you are doing a mistake because you don't know the area, so I explain better:

1) The Merville Tower is located inside a park in the northern part of Jesolo, but it's just one tower in the park (and this was the concept, a "house in the park"), the rest of towers are located in the town, so ecologicals could be always angry but this is already an urban area.

2) Jesolo is already an important touristic town, so it's not correct to say they are building on nowhere...

3) They have enough money because some of these projects are already completed!

Check the map guys...

Whereas "Lido di Venezia" belongs to the commune of Venice, and it's right next to the city, Jesolo and its Lido is an independent commune in the province of Venice, located some 15km east of Lido di Venezia.

Jesolo is a very trendy seaside location, I would say the most popular holiday destination for young people in Veneto. Due to its geographical collocation in the north-east of Italy and its proximity to Venice, Jesolo is very well known in Austria and Germany as well. In the end, it is only 2 hours away from Klagenfurt.

The city is now experiencing a mid-rise boom, it is very well connected with Venice via bus plus ferry.

This is the theme park where the Observation Tower should be built

Ok it's clear. It's very empty on the photos, but the city wakes up on summer
