The most expensive penthouse currently being advertised for sale in London seems to be this 8,000sqft apartment in the One Hyde Park Corner building at Ł65m ($105m) with views over both Hyde Park itself and London's Knightsbridge district.

The floorplan seems a bit eccentric but that's the shape of the building.

I was wondering, what is it exactly that makes a large top floor apartment a penthouse?

Penthouse can be used for "large apartment" to "apartment on the top floor" to "house on top of the roof". Especially real estate agents tend to stretch the meaning of the word. We indeed need to coin more words to distinguish between the different usages.

Given how high SSC threads usually rank on google searches, there is a good chance new terms would stick outside the forum :p

By contrast to London's Ł65m pad, the most expensive penthouse currently for sale in my home town (reaching the dizzying heights of the fourth floor ) is a more modest 1,500sqft new build apartment going for Ł450,000 ($725,000)

1000m2 for an apartment I've never even been in a house that big.

That Kyiv penthouse is one of the best I've ever seen, the design is flawless. I wonder what the price tag is...

Hmm... this is a reasonable price for a luxury penthouse.

The Cupola Penthouse in 141 Fifth Ave., which sold in 2011. Probably my favorite Chelsea penthouse in Manhattan...

That's what I am going to have. As long as I can remember I have promised myself a bath tub with a skyline view, but a bathroom with a window doesn't come standard. With bathing and sleeping being private activities, it actually makes sense to combine these if that's the only option and if you have the space to do so.

The kitchen in the TO penthouse somehow needs 4 ovens / microwaves

But that is so unpractical in the sense "no sudden moves or the bed will be soaked". Of course if you are a disciplined calm bather then it's fine Also I can imagine serious humidity issues in the bedroom.

And it doesn't matter if it's a jacuzzi, just because there is no shower doesn't mean it's not filled with water. I imagine the "oh shit" line would be screamed out on too many occasions lol

All in all the idea is quite interesting and it looks nice on photos but I think from the practical point of view it can be problematic.

I think those on the left are a regular convection oven with a plate warmer compartment; the ones on the right might be a microwave and a steam oven. Thus you have 3 different ovens for different uses

Could not find such a feature - can you point it out?

Closet Sra is Closet Senora, not Senorita. Senorita would be Srta.

So the woman residing in the master suite should be married. The sex and marital status (and age) of the residents of Suites 1 to 4, and the 2 servant bedrooms, is unspecified.
