90 Stories Above Manhattan, This Pad Has a 30 Foot Waterfall

Quote:
This apartment, located somewhere 90 stories above Manhattan, is apparently "one of the largest private apartment residences in the United States," according to the blurb from ODA-Architecture, which handled the apartment's interiors. We're not sure exactly when the renovation took place, but we stumbled on it yesterday courtesy of one helpful Curbed tipster, and it's the kind of apartment that's worth our attention regardless of timing. The property is 18,000 square feet, with six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Then there are the quirkier features, which include a theater and music room, private spa and gym, teahouse, 2,000 bottle wine room, sculpture garden, and 30' waterfall with reflecting pool. Each of those amenities deserves to be followed by an (!) or two. And the archibabble reveals a little bit more:

Quote:
With a perimeter of 16' foot floor- to-ceiling windows, the essence of the apartment is the sculpture garden at its entrance. The garden features a spectacular 30' water wall and reflecting pool overlooking the famed United Nations headquarters along the East River. This superlative dwelling also features a 75' expanse of living and dining area along with a Italian kitchen, library, game room, day spa, home theater and professional grade listening room with recording studio.

It's an owner build out but if it's the penthouse at Trump World Tower (it is), the asking price was $75 million.

What an awesome penthouse. While $75 million is a lot of money, for what it is, and where it is located... it doesn't seem that far fetched. If I had a spare $75 mil laying around, I wouldn't mind that penthouse. 18,000 sq ft, 6 Bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a theatre and music room, recording studio, private spa and gym, teahouse, 2,000 bottle wine room, sculpture garden, and 30 foot waterfall. All this at 90 floors above Manhattan. Heaven.

432 Park Avenue Penthouse Plans Come To Light:

Quote:
One57 usurper 432 Park Avenue is going to be the tallest residential building in the western hemisphere upon its completion in 2015. But you don't have to wait two years to check out the incredible view from the 95th-floor penthouse. In fact, you can check them out right now, as a tipster sent us some of the unit specific view shots—from the 34th, 40th, 41st, 64th, and 91st floors—that the 432 Park sales team is distributing to prospective buyers. We also got some new full-floor penthouse floorplans for the 85th-88th-floor units and the 91st-96th-floor units, one of which is already in contract for $95 million.

The worst thing is knowing that whoever owns these skypalaces probably never lives there.

Penthouse at Zeckendorfs’ 50 U.N. Plaza to ask $100M

Quote:
The Zeckendorfs will ask $100 million for the top penthouse at their 88-unit condominium building, 50 United Nations Plaza, currently under construction in Turtle Bay. The 15,597-square-foot triplex at the Norman Foster-designed building is slated to have 14 bedrooms and 13 full bathrooms.

The apartment also boasts 1,500 square feet of outdoor space and a 10,000-pound stainless steel staircase leading to an infinity pool, the New York Post reported. The building – which should be complete by December 2014 — is being developed by the Zeckendorfs as and Eyal Ofer’s Global Holdings. It is Foster’s first residential project in the country.

Condos in the building, at First Avenue and 46th Street, will start at $2.8 million, as previously reported. The developers paid $160 million for the site in 2007.

Inside a Billionaire's Totally Bonkers NYC Penthouse

Quote:
Wow. The more looks we get at it, the more ridiculous this ODA Architecture-designed 18,000-foot duplex penthouse on the East Side gets. First there were mere renderings, then there was a 12-minute video with tantalizing pans narrated by ODA's executive director Eran Chan, and now the firm has unleashed 49 photos and a floorplan of the over-the-top residence. The palatial six-bedroom, 12-bathroom pad features, among other things, a foyer full-on art gallery and sculpture garden with works by big-name artists, a 30-foot waterfall and reflecting pool, a zen garden, a teahouse, a game room, a cigar room, a recording studio, a screening room, a day spa and gym, and a barrel-vaulted wine cellar that holds 2,000 bottles.

ODA calls it "one of the largest apartments in Manhattan... with 360 degrees views of New York City, housing one of the largest private art collections in the world." The firm hasn't—and won't, for privacy reasons—name the owner, but a combination of Curbed tipster savvy, prior media reports, and careful analysis of the penthouse's views all point to Blackstone Master of the Universe Chinh E. Chu, a senior managing director with an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion who in 2007 spent $33 million on the Trump World Tower's 89th floor and half of the 90th.
