There are too many objects in these facades without a clear structural purpose, it is just clutter. So i prefer more serene types of architecture.
The "pointless details" were an important element of architecture back in the day. If you were building something big, you had the money and prestige. Skyscrapers were indicators of succesful companies, powerful people and architectural mastery. Before everything was measured in $ they were the best summary of a company's success that one could use.
Anyway, I also think that Woolworth should get a lot more attention, now that it's so old and still so beautiful. I'm amazed at how clean the facade it despite all the winters, storms and gas-filled air.

Great building! Trust me its much more beautiful to see it in person than in pictures espically when you are driving past. It looks unique in many angles.

For a century old building.. that condition is still remarkable.

I've seen lots of decade old buildings that looks horrible.

Yeah, does that look bad for a 100 year old building ? There are thousands of buildings made in the past 50 years that suffered a lot more visible damage to the facade.

Those Dalian towers (Wanda East Port Project) are wonderful, but have to go with American Radiator.

I can't believe I hadn't heard about this building before, the Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh! It's actually a school, I believe, but it's an amazing Gothic skyscraper!
