Except for the fact that there is no undisclosed order for 30 MAXs.

They also only finalized their 787 order in August 2013 after 1st announcing it in May 2011. They don't seem to be in a hurry when it comes to firming up orders. I think it's very likely that these 30 737 MAXs will be an addition to the current order list. Unless they ended up placing a much bigger order then 30 MAXs from the loi.

ps. The flydubai commitment for the MAX turns out to become an order for 75 planes, the order will probably come with 25 options making it the up to 100 that was mentioned in thee press release.

Found this when looking at Boeing's list of orders for the 737MAX. I am surprised that this hasn't been formally announced or did I miss this. They have one for Jet Airways ordering 50 737 8MAXs

Skymark Airlines Intends to Select the 737 MAX for Fleet Renewal Program

LE BOURGET, France, June 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Tokyo-based Skymark Airlines (Skymark) today announced the airline's intent to select the Boeing 737 MAX as its next generation single aisle aircraft of choice, making it Japan's first airline to do so. The announcement came on the first day of the 2013 Paris Air Show. Boeing will work closely with Skymark to finalize a firm order in the coming months.

"We are delighted to deepen our partnership with Boeing and work together on the renewal of our single-aisle fleet," said Shinichi Nishikubo, president and CEO of Skymark Airlines. "The Next-Generation 737 has been a key driver of our successful growth, and we are sure that the 737 MAX will provide us with even greater efficiency and competitive edge as we move into the next stage of expansion."

Based at its Haneda Airport hub in Tokyo, Skymark Airlines currently operates a fleet of 30 Next-Generation 737-800s on a lease from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) and other lessors.

"Skymark is a pioneer in Japan's commercial aviation market as they continue to introduce new and innovative airplanes," said John Wojick, Senior Vice President of Sales for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Under Mr. Nishikubo's leadership, Skymark became the first airline in Japan to bring the innovative Boeing Sky Interior to the travelling public onboard its fleet of Next Generation 737-800 airplanes. And now Skymark is poised to become Japan's first airline to enjoy the superior economic performance and environmental advantages of the 737 MAX."

The 737 MAX builds on the strengths of the world's best-selling Next-Generation 737. The 737 MAX incorporates the latest-technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market. Airlines operating the 737 MAX will see a 13 percent fuel-use improvement over today's most fuel-efficient single-aisle airplanes.

They have a fleet of 30 737s and there is a undisclosed 30 737MAX order so could that one be for Skymark?

Jet Airways Orders 50 Boeing 737 MAX Planes

The article says that Jet Airways has ordered 50 737 MAXS worth 5.37 billion dollars at current prices but Jet Airways and Boeing haven't formally announced the order.

The Skymark order was for only 4 aircraft. It has not been firmed yet.

Again, there is no undisclosed order for 30 737 MAXs

http://active.boeing.com/commercial/...Timeout=100000 <- see User Defined Reports.

Skymark could be behind the order for 4 that was placed on 04 July 2013. If they want more they will probably lease just like all of their current 737s.

Wow I did not see this one coming. They were in talks with Airbus for NEOs but now they go BOEING!

Air Canada Selects Boeing 737 MAX to Renew Mainline Narrowbody Fleet

MONTREAL, Dec. 11, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada today announced its mainline narrowbody fleet renewal plan that includes commitments, options and rights to purchase up to 109 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The new aircraft will replace Air Canada's existing mainline fleet of Airbus narrowbody aircraft, creating one of the world's youngest, most fuel efficient and simplified airline fleets.

The agreement with Boeing, which is subject to completion of final documentation and other conditions, includes firm orders for 33 737 MAX 8 and 28 737 MAX 9 aircraft with substitution rights between them as well as for the 737 MAX 7 aircraft. It also provides for options for 18 aircraft and rights to purchase an additional 30. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2017 with 2 aircraft, 16 aircraft in 2018, 18 aircraft in 2019, 16 aircraft in 2020 and 9 aircraft in 2021, subject to deferral and acceleration rights.

"We are pleased to announce our agreement with Boeing for the purchase of 737 MAX aircraft as part of the ongoing modernization of Air Canada's fleet," said Calin Rovinescu, President and CEO of Air Canada. "Renewal of our North American narrowbody fleet with more fuel efficient aircraft is a key element of our ongoing cost transformation program and the enhanced passenger cabin comfort provided by the Boeing MAX will help us to retain Air Canada's competitive position as the Best Airline in North America. Our narrowbody fleet renewal program is expected to yield significant cost savings. We have estimated that the projected fuel burn and maintenance cost savings on a per seat basis of greater than 20 per cent will generate an estimated CASM reduction of approximately 10 per cent as compared to our existing narrowbody fleet."

Air Canada continues to evaluate the potential replacement of its Embraer E190 fleet with more cost efficient, larger narrowbody aircraft that are better suited to its current and future network strategy. Consistent with this strategy, the agreement with Boeing provides for Boeing to purchase up to 20 of the 45 Embraer E190 aircraft currently in Air Canada's fleet. The E190 aircraft exiting the fleet will be initially replaced with larger narrowbody leased aircraft until the airline takes delivery of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The company will be reviewing various options over the next six months for the remaining 25 Embraer E190 aircraft including continuing to operate them or replacing them with a yet to be determined number of aircraft in the 100 to 150 seat range.

Air Canada's plan is for its total fleet including Air Canada rouge™, excluding aircraft flown by its contracted regional carriers, to grow from 192 aircraft as at September 30, 2013 to approximately 214 by the end of 2019, on a pro forma basis. Additionally, for further growth flexibility, Air Canada has 13 options and rights to purchase 10 Boeing 787 aircraft, rights to purchase 13 Boeing 777 aircraft as well as the 18 options and 30 purchase rights for Boeing MAX aircraft.

About the Boeing 737 MAX

The Boeing 737 MAX brings advanced engine technologies to build on the strengths of the Next-Generation 737. The 737 MAX incorporates the latest-technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines to deliver high efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market. According to Boeing, airlines operating the 737 MAX will see a 14 percent fuel-use improvement over today's most fuel-efficient single-aisle airplanes.

Boeing Statement on Air Canada 737 MAX Commitment

SEATTLE, Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] is pleased that Air Canada announced an agreement today that includes commitments, options and rights to purchase up to 109 Boeing 737 MAXs.

When finalized, the firm order for 61 737 MAX 8s and MAX 9s is expected to be worth $6.5 billion at list prices and will be posted to the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.

"We're honored that Air Canada chose Boeing to lead its fleet renewal plan," said Brad McMullen, vice president of North America Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "We know the 737 MAX will provide the airline and its customers with an experience that can't be matched."

30x purchase rights

Just last week the aviation media was reporting that they were close to closing a deal with Airbus. And as a large A320 you could say that this is the 1st big steal by Boeing, and only the 2nd after the SilkAir order.

But with deliveries starting in 2017 the availability might have also played a big part in this order, the neo is fully booked the next couple of years. It probably also helped that Air Canada switched back to a all Boeing long-haul fleet in the 2nd half of the 2000s. There's a good relationship between the 2 companies that is now paying off for Boeing.

Also the B787-compensations and the buy-back of 20 Embraer jets from AC has played a big role here. Leeham reported today that in the end the Boeing package won on price. But the B787-compensations and other airplane buy-back can not always be part of the deal. So Boeing had to go to very great lengths to "steal" this one away from Airbus.

But their recent, more aggressive production increase of the B737 over the A320 has played a very big role in the availability of the aircraft. So Airbus must take a look at their production increase plans which are less ambitious then the ones Boeing shows, to prevent the further loss of such "almost won-deals." On the other hand, increasing production is not as easy as it looks. So Boeing now has to deliver upon this commitment without losing the quality out of sight.

Great picture.... PK-LOF is clearly visible at the end of the row.

24 December 2013 was a historical day for Palu, it was the first time that PK-LOF, the 100th 737NG from Lion Air Group visited Bandara Mutiara (PLW).
