There are 3 locations were there are Boeing production lines for the commercial airliners.

Renton, WA: 737
Everett, WA: 747, 767, 777 & 787
Charleston, SC: 787

The 737s are delivered from Boeing Field in Seattle.

For the 737 production Everett doesn't play a role, expect that the airport sometimes is a test flight destination.

The deal with Delta was rejected by Delta's pilot unions btw, it really hadn't anything to do with the deal Boeing offered. It's even likely that they will order more 737-900ER anyway, just not buy the 2nd hand Embraer E-175s, which would have been a completely new type in the Delta mainline fleet. Hence the vote with the pilot unions, they won't necessarily need the approval of the unions to by just more 737-900ERs.

Then why did they order 30 A321-200s in September 2013 and then order 15 A321-200s in June 2014? If they feel the A321-200 is the better place then why order the 737-900ER in first place?

Delta already got a large mixed narrowbody fleet, it makes perfect sense if they order both more A320ceo's and 737NGs. Even the 737-900ER as they are still taking delivery of the 100 they ordered in 2011. Both are now end of the line products, they will get good deals from Airbus and Boeing for these planes.

It was Delta who wanted to place this order for more 737-900ERs in the first place. Maybe you got to ask why did they want to place this order when the A321 is a such "better plane"? (the answer is the same btw)

I understand Delta has for a long time had a mixed narrowbody fleet (even before merging with NWA). However that does not mean they should not consolidate the fleet when it comes to ordering new planes. Thus if they feel that the 737-900ER or Airbus A321ceo is the better plane for them when operating flights using planes of that size then they should stick to it in my view.

For the record I was not trying to suggesting that the A321ceo was the better plane for Delta than the 737-900ER, I was stating that since Delta has made it 2 most recent orders for this segment for this plane, I was suggesting that they consider the A321ceo to be better for their needs. (Overall I think the A321 is a better 757 replacement*, but I am not a fanboy for any one maker of aircraft)

Ultimately the only reason I can see why Delta has done this is I suppose because they got the best deal from either company when they made the various orders at that time.

*Mainly because of its range and size more closely matching the 757.

RwandAir annouced some weeks ago, that they ordered a brand new Boeing 737-800, with a delivery either end of 2015 or early 2016. The airline got 2 B737-800 Sky Interior, in 2011. Furthermore, the airline operates 2 B737-700s leased from ILFC (Ex Air Berlin, built in 2007)

Currently, nothing on Boeing website, i guess we will have a statement from Boeing in few weeks.

17 of the unidentified orders are for Virgin Australia, they are all 737ng conversions. They now have 40x 737 MAX on order.

Quote:
Virgin Australia boosts Boeing 737 MAX order, via delayed 737s

Virgin Australia has beefed up its order book for the Boeing 737 MAX from 23 of the fuel-efficient jets to 40 – but at the cost of short-term growth of its domestic Boeing 737 fleet.

A slide from the airline's 2015 financial year results notes that 17 of the Boeing 737-800 'NG' (next generation) jets, which currently form the backbone of Virgin Australia's domestic fleet, due for delivery through to the 2017 financial year, have been converted to orders for the Boeing 737MAX.

There's indeed a backlog, if there wasn't there wouldn't be any assembly lines and Boeing would be out of business.
