These are very early slots though. I didn't think that they will be able to get first MAX in 2017.

The entire MAX project is ahead of schedule, kudos to Boeing and CFM (both) for that.

For various reasons (mainly a flood of unexpected cheap 700s and their pilots unions) SW are unable to ramp fast and early on their deliveries so other airlines can get in early on a project that was generally supposed to deliver Product #1 in Q3 2017.

Does the 737 MAX received FAA and EASA certification? If the MAX hasn't received certification yet, I doubt it will be deliver in early 2017. Maybe will be deliver in 1H 2017 as expected by Boeing.

Cheers

First MAX delivery is scheduled to Southwest in 2Q 2017. Flight test program is smooth and ahead of schedule, so November delivery for LOT is not timeframe to worry about.

I think Norwegian are making a big announcement re early 737 Max deliveries next month, no doubt Woody will keep a regular eye on the Max storage line.

Leeham withdrew that comment they made about an early 737 Max delivery to Ryanair last week (it is still in the tag cloud ) but there is some chat about that Norwegian have secured some early product in Q1/Q2 2017, perhaps up to 5 frames.

I Know. The first 2 production 737-400s are still flying daily with a Venezualan airline. Two similarly aged early A320s are still flying daily with Lufthansa. All are 26 or 27 years old.
Both models are a lasting tribute to the CFM56 engine as a new engine would be worth more than the entire frame now. But if the existing engines keep going so will the frame.

6 frames per trainload means that it is a bi weekly event at least. Are there any TRAINspotters in Seattle you could ask?

They move them along the tracks next to Boeing field. Not sure of the schedule, but there are local planespotters that chase them down.

What "maintenance" is being done with the Alaska Airlines planes? I'm assuming that's when they do a repaint to the new livery. Are they doing any interior refits?

They do everything from wifi updates, too B Checks at the ATS facility here at PAE for Alaska. None of the planes are repainted here. Only Southwest 737's are repainted here.

ATS has a contract for Alaska, Southwest, Westjet, American, and Air Canada. So we see them come in and out daily for maintenance.

It looks like 1st 737 MAX8 test frame (1A001 N8701Q) finished testing and will start re-work into Southwest Airlines frame soon.

Correct - It did one last test flight yesterday and is back at Renton to have test equipment removed and reworked for Southwest.

Boeing won't have to do a huge amount of rework as this PR photo of theirs of the first test frame shows. It already has the lockers and interior decor and only needs seats.
