United might also be glad that they didn't order the CSeries. If they had ordered it they probably would not have been able to deffer them as easily as they can do now with this conversion.
P&W will defer them anyway, they can't make the engines at a reasonable rate yet.

Boeing shares are down after this announcement, the stock market clearly doesn't know much about the specifics of the 737 production. They just see deferral and start to run. In other words, it's a good moment for some quick profit, the shares will bounce back again in no time.
We never heard what model 737 did we?, likely a Max 8, but that bird does not do the same job as a CS 100 or a -700, it is too big for thinner routes.

It looks to rational a stock analyst like a crude attempt to hide a deferral by both Boeing and United and without disclosure to United shareholders as to why???

I don't know what makes you think it's hidden, as it's right there in the statement.

Direct quote from the statement:

"while also reducing capital expenditures by approximately $1.6 billion through 2018"

They are spending less money on new deliveries over the next 2 years, meaning deferrals. All the news articles on this conversion talk about it as a deferral, the stock market sees it as a deferral. If it's an attempt by United to hide the fact that it's a deferral they are failing miserably.

Fiji Airways commits to order 5 737 MAX 8s.

Boeing Statement on Fiji Airways' Intent to Purchase 737 MAX 8s

http://boeing.mediaroom.com/2016-11-...ase-737-MAX-8s

From 2018 we're saying Bula to the MAX!

https://twitter.com/FijiAirways/stat...06647263637504

A modest new order (when firmed up), but it shows the growing customer base of the MAX.

Boeing's weekly order update.

"Changes since last update: Five new orders (Enter Air Sp. z o.o. for four 737s and Unidentified Customer(s) for one 737). In the changes category, reduced 737 orders by two."

Norwegian granted permission to fly US - Ireland ....now lets see if accelerated delivery of their Max 8 order is on the cards for H1 2017 or if ETOPS 120 certification is perhaps delayed until the autumn which is when they really need the Max 8 to fly the Atlantic.

https://www.rte.ie/news/2016/1203/83...-cork-flights/

Flights expected from ORK and SNN next summer using -800s or _perhaps_ a Max 8 if they get one in time.

Do the 700 and 800 share a common wing? With the significant stretch on the 800 in the photos it is hard to tell. A nice contrast between the two variants.

I LOVE Southwest's livery. It's bold, eye-catching. That's a huge improvement over any Eurowhite(trash) out there.

Incredibly disappointed to see that Joral's picture of 737's have been removed by a Moderator. This is a 'News and Discussion' thread, it now appears that it is 'News' only as any 'Discussion' that could have been had on those pictures is now not allowed, on the basis of one person's point of view.

I cannot honestly see the difference between pictures in post 1246 and the Aerolineas Argentina B737'S. I have alot of respect for Woody and how he contributes to this forum, but those aircraft are not news either and should be removed as was Joral's.

I do not want Woody's pictures to be removed, but it is time to be consistent and I do not think Joral has been treated fairly.

HI
Can you explain me the difference between an airplane that is in his hub to another has been delivered or make modifications? ????

That's why this forum is News and Discussion. For nice and beautiful pictures go ahead in the pictures of photos forum and nobody tell you anything.

Anyway, come back to the forum, someone know when the 737-9 Max will be built? ??

Thanks

The pictures I post are news as they are no rev flights and either 1st flight, customer test flights, or going to or from maintenance.

Simply posting pictures found on A.net, JetPhotos.net, or at the airport is not news. I try to limit my pictures to 1 or 2 per event and don't always post all test flights of a particular frame. Unless it's a special frame like 1st for airline or special livery.

There is nothing more real than news direct from a factory on the very day it happened and Woody is an absolute gentleman when questions come up (regularly) about a particular frame as well. The photos embellish the news as they should in any kind of quality news feed.

What some posters did on a semi industrial scale up to about a year ago was dump their non news photo 'collections' in this forum. You could not see the 'news' for all the clutter and crap a lot of the time. It was beyond ridiculous for a "news and discussion" thread as it was not news and these posters discussed nothing and then often came back the next day and simply posted more photos.

A special aircraft photos forum was then created for that sort of poster and I'll wager that not a single post in there was ever reported to a mod ever since.

In time I hope that every aircraft factory of note has a Woody type character lurking in the hedge outside but for now the best quality news feeds comes from Seattle (Sponge Bob GLARES at Hamburg here). At least the space is now there in this forum for the cream to rise, as it should. That was impossible a year ago. Other posters like Piotr fill in bits Woody missed which is equally important.

This of course means that there are now two forums on SSC for aircraft photo junkies rather than the one, but this one has news and discussion as well as photos.

Thanks - I pride myself on my contacts and resources to gather information for you guys. The local newspaper did a article on us, calling us Dreamliner Stalkers. Lurking in bushes, climbing trees, ladders, etc. All to get the first shots of new frames, new paint, etc. for you guys to enjoy. Like today. I spent all day at PAE to catch UAL 1st 777-300ER depart and return in fantastic light, as there was no good shots of it yet and you guys (Spotters & Avgeeks alike) ask me for status and shots of frames like this. When I can I accomidate, after all it is a hobby and I just happen to live next to PAE. Whereas most of you can't visit regularly.

I wonder whether max 8 production is slowed by the Max 9 prototype now on the line. Have any new Max 8s appeared in the parking area recently?
