Maybe Jet Airways placed their order finally. That is the only airline that I can see ordering 737MAX right now. It is early for the Ryanair order if it is comming.

Look like another B737-800 by Turkish Airlines has a new football (soccer) club livery...

"Borussia Dortmund" (reg. TC-JHU)

Boeing has now 4+ orders from unidentified customers, the Jet Airways order was also linked with the one that was placed last month.

So unless these orders are from leasing companies there are at least 4 airlines that have ordered the MAX that we don't know of yet.

737 MAX orders, unidentified customers:
Undisclosed - 10/01/2012 - 22
Undisclosed - 12/21/2012 - 35
Undisclosed - 04/23/2013 - 50

Aspire Aviation has made an article about the current state of Boeing and that it's not as bad as some people say.

The points on the 737 from the article:

Quote:
- Boeing to modify 737 MAX 8 doors to add around 9 seats
- 737 MAX 8 to meet 13% fuel burn reduction per seat target after door modification
- Door modification has negligible impact on MEW
- 737 MAX 7 & MAX 9 also likely to have around 9 more seats
full article:
http://www.aspireaviation.com/2013/0...ds-all-fronts/

Adding 9 seats by changing the design of the doors does seem a bit strange, it's 1.5 row. But it's probably down to readjusting the spaces around the doors and using the new extra slim seats that give just enough extra room for an extra row or 2. I can imagine Ryanair being very happy about this design change.

And this is jet another article claiming that easyJet could go MAX, I don't think that we have to wait that long before we see this confirmed by an MAX order or debunked by a neo order.

Is there really no need for a NE0 10? There is a considerable fleet of 75´s and 762´s still flying and a bigger NEO would be a good replacement. The 737 (900ER) is stretched to its limits but a modified design would solve alot of problems with a longer fuselage. The cost would be high but if they would sell 500 + Aircraft then it would propably pay off.
DL, AA, UA and others would be very interested in such a plane and also the chinese and japanese carriers.

The -9 will fly 95 % of the 75 routes but with less passengers and no TATL flight. A -10 with around 4000-4500 nm range (220-240 pass)will not only be a great 75 replacement but could also replace some 763 routes.

Typically, those aircraft would run as delivery flights, and those would definitely need to make a stop or two somewhere to get to their intended destinations. This also applies to ferry flights as well. With such deliveries, the plane would weigh lighter than usual, allowing it to fly a little further than advertised, and those would just make a scheduled stop for refueling.

Extra fuel tanks, either in the cargo bay or on the passenger deck with removed seats are also used on ferry flights. Several 737s have been delivered as non stop flights from Seattle to Europe.

And if a stop is needed there are always strategically placed airports like Anchorage in Alaska for deliveries to Asia and Reykjavik for deliveries to Europe. But a 737 can even cross the Atlantic without any stops, a flight from Halifax in Canada to Shannon in Ireland is well within the maximum range of a fully loaded 737.

So for the 737 is not really a big problem, but if you imagine a turboprop being ferried to let's say Hawaii it's a whole different story. Then you really have to do a detour using many small island airports.

Way to go TUI! That only leaves 40 or so 737 orders not specified yet.

This is not one of the earlier firm orders for unidentified customers, this one is brand new and not even on the Boeing order books yet.

Thanks for the pictures. ET's livery looks great on the 737. Hopefully they might place an order for the 737MAX to replace those.

No new firm orders for the 737 MAX on the 1st day of Paris.

But the commitment from TUI Travel PLC was only reconfirmed with a press conference, it's not yet firmed up.

And the 2nd 737 news story today was that Skymark Airlines will order the MAX.

Skymark Airlines Intends to Select the 737 MAX for Fleet Renewal Program
http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=2703

They currently operate leased 737-800s, this will be their first 737 order directly with Boeing. Skymark is of course known for having A330s and A380s on order, so with this intention to buy the MAX they show that they won't go all Airbus. That was probably the main reason why they announced it in this stage of the negotiations.

Perhaps a huge order from Ryanair soon

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-0...dge-tells.html

"Ryanair Holdings Plc (RYA) said a team that it set up to evaluate Boeing Co.’s 737 Max model will report back by the end of September, paving the way for an order that might run to more than 200 of the narrow-body planes."
