Japan TransOcean Air's next NG will be worth keeping an eye on as it will be getting a special livery according to my sources.

In other news I've been informed that Southwest's NG N8542Z has had an undisclosed "incident" at ATS up at Paine Field and requires some rework before it can fly. Checking FR24 it has been at PAE for over a month now when usually the wifi and scimitar install takes around 1 week to complete. Maybe the PAE experts have some additional info on that one.

Southwest N8542Z didn't have any issues at PAE. It took longer to install the Wifi system as Southwest is using this airframe to test a possible upgrade to Panasonic Wifi. So it took longer than they expected to get it installed.

There's a photo now on Instagram under #pklqm tag but not great quality, however it shows that it's received the same treatment as PK-LQJ as it has the same Lion Air front end and Malindo rear end.

Malindo's 9M-LRC is no longer operating and is over at SZB so as 9M-LRD has been out of service for 2 months already that brings an end to Malindo's 737 Max ops.

In other news, Virgin Australia's next new 737 VH-YWA has been sighted and 'togged at RNT already painted up.

https://tykesaeroblog.blogspot.com/2...irst-pics.html

Can't read the name on it as the heat haze was pretty bad but looks like something Beach.

Some fresh pics of the 2nd -9 Max test frame as there haven't been any since Huy's pic at Renton back in May. Got one engine cover sorted but the other one still needs a dash of paint!

https://tykesaeroblog.blogspot.com/2...39ex-pics.html

Also, first pic painted of Suparna Airlines 737 B-1313, all jacked up!

https://tykesaeroblog.blogspot.com/2...first-pic.html

Suparna Airlines being the new name for Yangtze River Airlines, formerly Yangtze River Express! Well, seeing as they officially rebranded on July 7, you wouldn't think they'd be painting their new planes with their old name! According to my sources they contracted Lion Air Group to handle the rebranding job . Okay I might have made that bit up..

Due credit to Jeff Berry for his sterling work getting the piccies.

Jinbei Jet JA05RK was moved from stall B10 to stall D2 (delivery center airbridge) at Boeing Field at 11am today so fly-away is imminent.

I heard Boeing ground inform the fire department that they had a fly-away scheduled for later today and I don't see anything else planned.

Hope that's of interest to the Japan locals!

Boeing's CEO has said the following about the current 737 production.

"Muilenburg says 737 production has now accelerated to 47 per month, Max and NG now coming down the same assembly line."

Ryanair are 'officially' cancelling 50 flights a day across certain EU bases from now until the winter schedule comes in from early November. Unofficially it is more.

A lack of spare pilots and a miscalculation as to how many of the annual hours their pilots have left from their annual quotas has forced them to reduce their operational tempo in case they have no pilots left to fly at christmas.

Charleroi is one base affected. > http://www.lesoir.be/113451/article/...ns-ce-dimanche

This amount to one flight cancelled per working day per 7 operational airframes or so. But Norwegian are reputedly recruiting 737 pilots heavily in certain bases too.

The situation is rapidly worsening for Ryanair.

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-41304456

1. Norwegian took 140 of their pilots in 2017.
2. Norwegian will train some of them on Max a/c (and with no Ryanair style 3 year bond conditions ....so they could go back to Ryanair after 2019 anyway if they got a decent offer)
3. Norwegian are offering FOs better than the Zero Hour contracts that Ryanair has them on and they will be paid this winter and they will get holidays from now on.
4. The Irish Aviation regulator is to make Ryanair publish all their cancelled flights, Ryanair tried to keep them secret by emailing affected customers only and not disclosing anything on their website.
5. Most of the chronic pilot shortages are in the 2 big bases Dublin/Stansted and also Charleroi base I hear but other bases may well be short pilots shortly.

Ryanair cancelled another wedge of flights from their winter schedule out to March.

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-41414414

Quote:
Ryanair will cancel another 18,000 flights between November and March, affecting the travel plans of another 400,000 passengers.
It will fly 25 fewer planes to cut the risk of further flight cancellations.
A total of 34 routes will be suspended this winter, including Stansted to Edinburgh and Glasgow, Gatwick to Belfast and Newcastle to Faro.
Earlier this month the Irish airline cancelled up to 50 flights a day through to the end of October.
They managed very high fleet utilisation the past 2 winters and the 25 grounded a/c is in addition to a similar number they planned on sending into overhaul.

The big problem for Ryanair is whether they can recruit pilots to fill the gaps between now and late March when their summer schedule starts. I personally don't think they can. They have MAX aircraft and associated training issues incoming in 2019 too.

Boeing booked a large unidentified MAX order last week (if it's 1 order).

"Changes since last update: 58 new orders (Unidentified Customer(s) for 58 737s)."
