SkyscraperCities

Just thought of an interesting concept, are there skyscrapers out there that are so mixed-use they are almost like a city within a skyscraper. For example, a skyscraper that has residential floors, shopping and amenity floors, floors with businesses, etc. etc. all in one tower.

If such a skyscraper exist, or something similar, please post it.

I think there are many modern residential skyscrapers that are like this. I think Marina City in Chicago was designed that way -- to lure people back into the city from the suburbs.

Presidential Towers in Chicago also immediately come to mind.

I can do Marina City for now.

I think Jan posted a floorplan of a Marina City Studio in the floorplan thread.

When I lived in Chicago, I frequented Bin 36, a nice restaurant in the complex.

House of Blues, Chicago is also part of the complex:

the concept (in the eksisting form) is so romantically overblown. There are many such towers here, and I see nothing special on them ... certanly not in the level people dream about.

Skyscrapercities are a fantazy .... even Burj Khalifa doesn't go anywhere near that concept, and neither would Kingdom Tower (or that pre-fab Changsha tower)

When it comes down to putting as many as possible functions into one scraper, de Rotterdam comes to mind.
It is still U/C, but it will house offices, a large hotel, restaurants and bars and over 200 apartments.
It is also promoted as a vertical city in the Netherlands.

In China you see a lot of those type of buildings, they have hotels and offices in the higher floors, the first two are for businesses like banks, liquor stores, small markets, restaurants, etc... let me find some to post them here.

Some family members own a comercial building, the first floor is "comercial" the rest sits empty, the top floors were converted into a mega condominium, what money can do.

Nice thread by the way.
