COVER BRIDGE IN VIETNAM - PART 1

CHÙA CẦU - (PAGODA BRIDGE OR JAPANESE BRIDGE) - HOI AN ANCIENT TOWN, QUANG NAM PROVINCE. VIETNAM

UNESCO HERITAGE

The bridge is the symbol of Hoi An ancient town. Images of Hoi An ancient town is in page 21 of this thread: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...580870&page=21

The bridge was built by the donation of Japanese merchants in 1590 - 1593. There's a temple over a bridge. The bridge and the temple is strongly influenced by Japanese architecture until it was rebuilt in 1817.

In 16th and 17th century, this bridge was once divided Hoi An ancient town into 2 parts: 1 part for Japanese and 1 part for Chinese. In 1719, Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu named the bridge"Lai Vien Kieu", which means "Bridge for Passers-by from Afar". In 1817, the bridge and the temple was rebuilt in Vietnamese style.

A TRADITIONAL HOUSE OF ĐÀO (PEACH) FAMILY

Built over 100 years in the South Vietnam

The architecture didnt change much since it was built. The house is the most beautiful among 30 old houses left in the village.

Area of the main house: 188 m2. The main house is the combination of 3 small houses. You can see this architecture from many old pagoda, temples in the South Vietnam. Nowadays, they dont built it anymore as it cost a lot of money and land.
