He said EU as in the European Union which Russia isn't apart of.

Generally Psychology will dictate that people will suggest buildings which have been generally voted some of the best. I.E anything that isn't really all that good won't be suggested as overrated whereas the best will be. Just the way humans' minds work. Sometimes it will be because you just want to be different to others since most people like it you want to be different and hate it and sometimes its just out of jealousy.

Threads such as "Ugly Skyscrapers" are more specific and constructive in terms of critical thinking and therefore create a more general consensus.

And London has 1 X 300+ and Frankfurt 0, plus London has 4 X 150+ u/c, and Frankfurt only 2.

The comment was that London can't compete with Frankfurt and Paris when it's not only competing but in fact has more skyscrapers and building more. London has as twice money pumped into the real estate than Paris and god knows how many times more than Frankfurt, I would say at least 8 times if not more. And it shows, look at number of cranes over Central London and surrounding areas, it's really mad and look at same areas over Paris and Frankfurt and you can hardly spot any cranes.
If not convinced now, wait for 3 years and you will be suddenly surprised how European city can look like.

The fact that you come from Kuala Lumpur makes me laugh. The petronas towers are 10x more overated. The ESB is a detailed gem, and is actually underated here

Agree, it's like saying the Roman Colosseum is overated. ESB is the classic tested by time.

I am not saying Petronas are overrated, but how do they represent islamic architecture? To me, the look quite like this:

Jeez, is there even one Malaysian on this forum who doesn't get offended when someone doesn't like the oh so glorious Petronas Towers? It's like the holy grail or something ... get over it.

A tall building can be mediocre, and unfortunately the WTC1 is an example. The WTC1 it isnt a skyscraper more in a medium size city of China... I think this special project for this special place deserved a tower much better. And I'm sorry to say this, because I love New York.
