I agree. This is a very cool design. The other design deserves a 2nd chance somewhere else.

We can easily count 108 floors for AEDAS version.

yeah the design looks good. old design was better, but still a good design. the height is amazing aswell and it has no big spire, maybe the top is mostly crown but hard to say. the supertall side tower also looks not too bad.

in the better render the side tower does not look as good though looks like the thing around the side tower is not all around it symmetrically which makes it look weird. hope the pearl in the middle will be kind of a restaurant or observation deck.

SHENYANG | Pearl of the North | 565m | 1854ft | PRO

Pearl of the North

Height: 565m
Architect: Atkins
Use: Office
Proposed: 2013
Start of Construction: 2014
Completion: 2018

SOURCE: http://skyscrapercenter.com/shenyang...e-north/15655/

Atkins has released images of a supertall office scheme in north-east China

The practice, which has offices across the UK and China, has designed the Baoneng Shenyang Global Financial Centre in Shenyang.

The £1 billion development consists of two towers – the 565m high Pearl of the North and its 328m high sister building.

Pearl of the North will contain 111 floors, accommodating class A offices and other amenities including a luxury executive club.

The 328-metre tower will host 34 floors of office with a 320-room five star luxury hotel above them.

KY Cheung, senior architectural design director at Atkins in the Asia Pacific region, said: ‘Our client challenged us to design a supertall building that is iconic, yet simple in structure.

‘In addition to meeting seismic codes and international standards, the project has to be efficient and satisfy a tight construction schedule.’

Construction has started on site and is due for completion in 2018.

i think the pearl makes this design look good, without the pearl the design might look a bit weird, because the top goes out like that
