Yes, as media and entertainment comes in more and more people will hear about these cities. Not just by buildings but with their GDP and the transformation of the cities. People like us we is on this webpage are all interested in skyscrapers so we will eventually know more and more. But for some Americans, maybe in there whole life they wonʻt know since some of them canʻt even name a country that starts with U

It's inevitable once urbanization continues a few more years just the sheer size and scope of the cities especially if these proposed mega metros get the green light around the Pearl River , Yangtze River deltas and the Bohai bay areas. Urban areas on never seen before level with matching infrastrucure, post 2020.

Oh yes definitely. I bet around 2025 India would start what would be China today. Huge areas of cities poping out, large infrastructure. And maybe world's tallest building. For a lot chinese cities they are building tall to get attention. LIke Wuhan and Shenyang. I am not saying its a bad thing but they could also start building like shenzhen have a lot of skyscarpers or like guangzhou, which they mainly focus on developing 200-550 ones.

Attention that results in a positive image for those cities is a plus, maybe in terms of tourism. More people might be inclined to visit those cities or at least not against the idea itself if they believe there's something worthwhile seeing. It might dispell some of the misconceptions people have about cities in China other than the big three.

As for India I suspect you're right there as well although in a longer time frame. Tall buildings are symbolic of wealth and power. A statement made with images not words. There is a time lag between reality and perception that is to say the time something occurs and the time most people accept it and its consequences are rarely the same. Human perception rarely changes in realtime.

There could be 2 answers for what I said, that one is what you said, the 2nd is probably after they have reached development of Tianjin, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, they will start slowing progress and start being like Shanghai and Beijing, I think right now Guangzhou is transforming to sort of Shanghai-ish. They have slowed down progress on skyscrapers last couple years, not like Shenzhen and Tianjin with too many construction going on but I guess when other CBD starts poping out like Nansha and Luogang, construction will be back.

Yes, India we eventually go through the same thing as what China did, but it is of course in a longer period. Last month I read on Economist that said "India's economy is going downnnnnnn. Its dropping. I am not sure but India has to get things together. Hope they restart India tower .

I remember reading an article either on the economist or another magazine last year stating that metro construction in China was unsustainable to the point that construction would slow down considerably or stop completely it also added that metro construction on this level wasn't completely unnecessary or words to that effect.

Well thankfully nobody that matters in Beijing read that article or if they did they didn't pay any attention to it because not only did they not back off metro construction as predicted but they actually stepped it up. Each year more new metros will open, more new lines more extensions to existing lines etc.

Obviously and thankfully for their sake a journalist's salary is not dependent on the truthfulness or accuracy of their articles. It's the old perception v reality scenario again.

So basically someone is predicting that metro construction is going to slow down but it didn't ended up that way. Although some cities are having trouble with metro construction. But how many cities are planned to have metro? Probably a lot.

And that goes back to the media again, the news have no other attraction that would attract people to read their article so they predict stuff that is probably not going to happen.

AND good at building. Because of techniques like pre-fabrication. Even if they didn't use that technique, they are still fast at it. And the Chinese skyscrapers are pretty complex as well. So yeah, they are the fastest builders (probably)

Probably not but it would be cool if some of other buildings did. Like Ping An or Burj Khalifa
