that height's the elevation, though lower manhattan is just about sea level so the height of the building is probably over 900'

Agreed. I wonder what the true elevation is in the area. Anyone??

True but sometimes elevation refers to above street level... in either case almost all of lower manhattan is just about at sea level or maybe a few feet above it.

It's hard to read the diagram at street level for this one but it looks like it should still be in the 970' range.

Nice to know we'll get another sizeable building.

Well the elevation at the curb level was around 12.5 feet, which I then took away from the elevation height of 972.38 feet... which is where I got 960ft/293m... So take it as you will

I agree. Shame this is so close but short of being supertall.

It might look a little weird if it were taller than 4WTC but 960 feet will look really good, especially for a skinny building.

Well it won't look taller than 4WTC because it will be standing right next to it and be obviously (but barely) shorter

So it will be 922 ft to the roof, parapet a bit higher.

Guess we can scrap this proposal, tho in this case it might be a good thing, height increase and Shvo galore!

Michael Shvo to buy site at 22 Thames

http://nypost.com/2014/06/10/michael...-at-22-thames/
The ever effervescent Michael Shvo is planning a big and tall tower for downtown.
Locals tell us the developer and condo marketer is in contract to buy a site at 22 Thames (aka 125 Greenwich) from Fisher Bros. and Steven Witkoff for around $180 million.

The broker is Andrew Scandalios of HFF, who did not return requests for comment.
Witkoff and the Fishers simply could not turn down the price that is roughly $90 million more than the $87.5 million they paid in September 2012.

As first revealed by New York Yimby, they had plans to build a 359,130 square-foot, 956 foot-tall project designed by Rafael Vinoly, with 70 floors of 6,489 square feet geared to rental units.
But Shvo will likely redesign the tower with smaller floor plates for grand, full and half-floor luxury condos.

Add a sprinkling of street retail plus a hotel base and the residential views will tower over the World Trade Center, Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor.

There is no height limit, and for a visionary like Shvo, there are no limits.
The former marketeer for others before the 2007 bubble burst resurfaced last year with his own developments, and now has two shorter ones planned with different partners at 239 Tenth Ave. and 100 Varick, but this one would be a dramatic signature skyline statement.
Shvo did not return requests for comment. Stay tuned.
Wow! I agree and Interesting. Maybe that's why the Fisher Brothers bought 92 Fulton Street to transfer Vinoly's design over there. Could be a blessing in disguise and this could certainly be taller to boot. Btw, is there a way to hide this post from thatoneguy? :he would be devastated. JK.

Holy Shvit!

We can expect a taller and better tower! Shvo knows that he'll have competition with 50 West, Silverstein's 30 Park Place, Trinity's condos by Cook Fox, Fisher Bros.' forthcoming tower on West St., 80 South St., etc. Thus, to meet the competition, I expect to see a real Shvo-Stopper if a tower to rise here'

It said it could be taller than the World Trade Centre... Would be great having another 400m tower downtown, and would definitely turn heads to this project if it turns out to be skinny as well

Would they be able to acquire more air rights?

Stig: Several years ago, Chetrit bought the adjacent, 1950s office block located at 100 Trinity. It is occupied by a school whose lease expires soon. I would not be surprised to see Shvo team up with Chetrit, who is a veteran developer.

P.S.: Please send my regards to Mr. Clarkson!

This project could and should be Shvo's comeback. After he's finished with 22 Thames, I expect that mysterious 100-story tower to pop up somewhere near Central Park.

I'm really pumped up to see what the Shvo man will do here & hope this goes over 1,000'.

A partnership with Chetrit would definitely be beneficial and could potentially make this an iconic site especially it's basically within the WTC complex.

I'm not a betting guy but I would bet on this one being a supertall considering the current design pushed the height to 970ft, if Shvo wants to shorten the footprint and increase apartment height, this will without a doubt be taller. I also can't wait for details on the architect and the design cause we know he's going to want to make a splash, this is turning out to be one of the most exciting projects in the city.
