I was gonna say the same thing. This application is just to get the ball rolling on the project, it happens all the time, I believe 30 HY did the same thing.
Those figures are for the original building planned for the site. Here are the old permits..

http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/Jo...ssdocnumber=01

I think we should stick with the advertised height until we hear different, but until then, I'm excited to hear this one is moving forward faster than we thought.

That massing model sure does not look promising though.
Do you mean "shvortened," Hunser?

I think it's Shvokay at either height?

Anyway, this project is clearly shvoing forward! It's shvotime, baby!

Look here ... it's no coincidence: old design was 841' roof, and 882' with the extension.

So I guess we are safe for now ...

Fisher Brothers has posted some renderings of the Rafael Vinoly-designed 22 Thames, and the rental tower is certainly living up to its promise of being tall, thin, glassy, and nondescript, not entirely unlike Vinoly's other big project, 432 Park. It also, according to NY YIMBY, could become the tallest residential building in Lower Manhattan if it exceeds 937 feet, passing the Four Seasons Hotel & Residences at 30 Park Place. A disapproved DOB permit has the height at 841 feet with 70 stories and 439 units (20 percent of which will be affordable). Amenities will include a fitness room, club room, library, conference room, yoga room, deck, squash court, screening room, and pool. The building is expected to be completed in spring of 2017.

True hunser! That does happen a lot with permit filings so at this point I wouldn't sweat it until something official is announced but the good news is that this project is starting waaay sooner than I had ever anticipated. Cheers.

I mean considering how much this development was bought by Shvo, this will have to be pretty high end IMO and if it's going to be high end he's gonna have to make this development stick out and the best way to do that is height and exclusivity.

Unless, thus thing is going to be outfitted with mission impossible type of security like Extell's Gem tower in the diamond district. Hehe

Anyone who calls this 432 Park II needs to use some imagination.

There's a difference between the Chrysler Building and the Al Kazim Towers right? Even though they have a similar shape?

That would be comparing an Art Deco masterpiece to a post-modernist, value engineered ripoff! By the same comparison, it would be like taking Gene Kaufmann style cladding and putting it on a tall box. We already have that with the 50 story Holiday Inn around the corner and don't need another one!

Good to know it may not have been shortened. Why would they scare us skyscraper nerds like that?

If it does turn out to be an ~850' box that would be pretty lame considering the high standards of current NYC development.

Well 432 park is a much better quality to this, as the Chryselr Building is to the Al Kazim

I know I'm dreaming but I would love to see this one's roof in between 1WTC's parapet and spire. That would look best.

I know Vinoly doesn't have direct control over the height and scale of this building; but he is known for designing some fairly controversial buildings such as 20 Fenchurch Street and 432 PA

He has the balls to designing something that stands out and is different; whether good or bad, so I think he's perfect for designing 400m+ tower right next to the WTC site; it'd be a real shame if this is just another 700ft tower imo

^ It's still 1,300ft+.

I'm more concerned about the design here. I really don't want a straight box so close to the WTC ...

Sounds about right, is it still 400+ meters tall though?

It amazes me the lack of creativity some people have... but if it has a nice facade and is very tall I'm happy.

I'm slightly confused why everyone is still convinced that this is still 1300+ ft tall when the DOB permit says otherwise. Any particular reason?

The permit at this point is irrelevant, but I doubt that this putz can build a mega project.

See my post #563. Sometimes old permits are used for new jobs.
