The good thing is, that render shows a bulding that is apparently far shorter than the 1 356 feet previously announced. Anything is better than 1 356 feet, 1356 feet is absolutely the worst height it could have. With that height it would in my opinion become the worst building in the history of mankind. Being so close to the WTC site and being so close to the height of the old Twin Towers, yet still below it would be the ultimate symbol of weakness, cowardice and defeatism. There are no words to describe the extent of the catastrophe a 1 356 feet building would cause to Downtown. A building taller than the Freedom Tower next to the WTC site would be awesome, however even a 1 000 footer is still far better than a 1 356 fotter

We still don't know the final height, word on the street is that the massing model and permit were old.

It could still be a supertall or even 400+ meters but I agree it might look odd being that close to the WTC, the designs wouldn't work too well together but we'll have to wait and see. It's hard to get upset about a potential 400+ meter building

I think only skyscraper geeks like ourselves are concerned about such symbolism about roof height. Granted the media and whatnot really ran with that 1776 foot thing of 1WTC. But I believe most (average) people would look at the WTC area and in seeing all these supertalls growing in the area (regardless of how close the roof heights are to the original twins) would definitely view it as a feeling of resurgence and growth.

I just hope that's NOT the design that's ultimately going up... a glassy 432 Park knockoff, while nice, wouldn't seem unique enough for an ego like Shvo. I'm counting on that to ultimately ensure something different, at least with personality, will go there. That giant glass rectangle is sure BIG, and I guess that's enough in some quarters but I want more New Yawk and less nouveau riche ostentatiousness and pretentiousness. 111 W57 th is for the highest up crowd, but at least the architecture is a masterpiece for everyone to enjoy. Even Nordtrom has a lot more personality than this vision.

This supertall should be constructed using special blue steel columns and beams.

as a ~1360' box it doesn't really work well with the WTC.

They need to spice it up a little

This should be nice with 80 a South. Having several super talls in various locations downtown will be nice.

I'm still not convinced that this will be 1320'+.

^Yea, they need to get creative if they wanna go that high, or even stay ~850 feet.

I can easily imagine it not reaching that high as well but what's your reasoning?

Strange, I don't mind this simple design in lower manhattan.

I may be in the minority, but I kind of like this design. It looks to fit in with the WTC site a bit.

The aesthetics of this design are good, it's the height that bugs me. And "bugs" is an extremely mild word of putting it

Height is ok to me, I think it might be a bit more beefy. This is too thin compared to all others.
