I'm a bit confused with this site. (22 Thames). When I look at this rendering I always wondered if there where going to raze all the surrounding buildings for it to be standing alone like that in this render. lol.

Could this rendering be actually for that nearby site located at 111 Washington Street then? I quite like the design and think it would be nice addition near the WTC area.

Should I request that this be moved to demo?

I think more dramatic than the height is the fact that Vinoly will be the architect - the location is not very good, though I suppose he was supposed to design Domino back when, and that isn't super high-end either.

At 841 feet this would be the third residential building under construction in Lower Manhattan greater than 800' tall - 56 Leonard will be u/c through 2015 and 99 Church will likely begin rising soon as well.

OMG please not an ugly 56 Leonard clone (although it is by far not as hideous as 56 Leonard) I hope for a design change

Not if 5 WTC is residential.

LOL Kanto! If it will be anything like 56 Leonard... this is going to give you headaches drawing a diagram for it. I think that's why you dislike 56 much.

Come on. I like this one far, far more than 56 Leonard. Nice modernism.

22 Thames Street July 2013 Demolition Update

The 1950s-sytle building in the background will come down eventually. The Chetrit Group bought it in 2007 and extended the Department of Education's lease to run the High School of Finance and Ecomics at the site until 2022 with no renewal.

Yes.

Also, does anybody know if that 1 story looking brick structure, to the left, will be redeveloped? That brick wall is beyond hideous and needs to be covered up.

The one-story brick structure is the WTC fire station. All (or nearly all of its firefighters died on 11 September). As it has a historic role, I doubt that it will be redeveloped.

There is a memorial wall on this building for the firefighters. I'd say if the wall is preserved I think the structure itself is not so valuable.

here is the FDNY memorial wall in full size.

I agree with you, but I'd wager that the City and FDNY view it differently than we do.

well unfortunately every stone that is somehow, no matter how remote the actual/ physical/ mental/ spiritual, connection to 9.11, has made into a sacred cow list. It is kind of making the memory of the place less valuable, since it is forcing us to concentrate on things that are not really connected to this tragedy. Firehouse is a structure made for some specific purpose. It didn't have anything to do with WTC. People that heroically went to put out the fire had the connection. Not the building itself.

I am not going to argue about it, but I just think that there is a smarter way of cherishing the memory of the dead.
