I actually quite like the two renders below, which show a sloping crown that taper to a spire.

It's much better than this render, which shows just a weird "plus sign" shape at the top:

Why are all these renderings so different and crappy (there are literally like 5 different ones when you include the one posted at the site)... are they perhaps showing different stages of the design process?

ugghh

Crappy renderings give a general form and massing, but the exact details are subject to change. A setback on the 34th floor might move to the 37th to improve the general aesthetics of the building. Look how many times the Hudson Yards towers have changed, each time disappointing us with the loss of a beautiful completed design, but giving us something new and just as good.

Yes, I'm hoping too that's what it is.. a filler rendering.

Haha! Just look at how long they have been working on the foundations for the Nordstrom Tower and 111 West 57th Street! This is almost as tall and skinny.

What's the hold up here? Appears they haven't made any progress since my last site visit 2 months ago.

I think on one side this building looks great and fits quite well with nyc skyline but, new yorkers need to preserve that architecture that we love so much. I dont know if that bricked wall building that some said was to be torned down finally is, in that case would be a shame

I think it's such a ugly building. Please let me go back to New York in the 20th century, or before then.

Well you son't seem to live in NY , so you can just watch Ghostbusters and Die Hard III a lot and you 'll get what you want.

Sorry, but I must also admit that imho the structure is really ugly.

Shame as NY has so many fantastic buildings. Why emulate some Chinese city if you have so much beautiful architecture to draw from...

I'm just a little confused as to which render is the real one that is being built. Haha.

I wonder if that reflects the actual floor count or if it's just another gimmick...

Good thing is, no matter what they build, it won't be worse than Bjarke Ingel's WTC contribution.

Hey, you never know, they could always come up with something truly appalling that is worse than 2 WTC.
2WTC actually isn't that bad, it just isn't nearly as good as what could have been there.

I kinda wish that 1000 South Michigan project was the WTC2 design. How it integrates the cantilevers would look great here. Its white facade, with silky sky blue glass would do wonders for the memorial in terms of aesthetic.
