Is anybody keeping count how many design changes this tower underwent?

As long as it keeps its articulated crown, I'll like it.

This article show a rendering by cityreality that depicts this well above 300m height. It puts it close to 380m height. It also depicts a new tower south of the W hotel.

Really hoping that this ends up less than 300m. This design is complete shit.

cityrealty has a history of being misleading or incorrect. Don't let them get your hopes up regarding height or massing.

Vinoly's FiDi Skyscraper Poised for Lift-Off, See New Renderings & Details
December 28, 2016
Quote:
After months of site preparation and foundation work, the Financial District’s next monumental skyscraper has reached street level and is now set to rocket skyward. Simply known as 125 Greenwich Street, the project site at the corner of Thames and Greenwich Street is a block away from the World Trade Center and directly abuts the old historic Curb Exchange building. The tower is being developed through a joint-venture between SHVO, New Valley and Bizzi + Partners Development who purchased the lot for $185 million from a partnership between Witkoff and Fisher Brothers. The super-slender skyscraper connoisseurs at Rafael Viñoly Architects have been tapped as the designers and their newly updated website provides new renderings and an insightful description on the project design.

What a missed opportunity.
This is surprisingly bad, especially the top looks clunky. Feels like a cheap afterthought of 50west with the round corners.
When a rental tower in Brooklyn (the SHOP one) has a 100 times more flare than a downtown luxury condo, you know there's something wrong.

Hideous design but at least they lopped off 500' so it won't overshadow any of the far superior WTC buildings.

Hopefully they'll use some great glass and make it look decent. As of last check, the site still looked the same as it has for a couple months, likely due to the redesign.

What about said profile is interesting to you? To me, it just looks like an ugly duo of massive concrete slabs. Perhaps not even painted so as to save a little bit of money. To me, there is nothing interesting about such a thing. Im not trying to discredit your opinion. I am genuinely curious as to why you think the way that you do.

This one looks like a huge H steel beam with the appartment floors attached to it. Which is a very nice detail for skyscraper enthusiasts. It might turn out way better then we expect. Remember how many of us used to hate 432 Park Avenue?

I think it looks almost like metabolist architecture, the way the similar glass modules seem 'attached' to the central core

I was thinking the same. It's easy to be distracted by the concrete walls, but the way the structure expands outward with split sections of curved glass gives it more girth and a more interesting shape than most tall residential towers in the city these days.

TRD: Michael Shvo benched at 125 Greenwich: sources

Quote:
[...]
Shvo no longer has any control over the direction of the nearly $900 million project in Lower Manhattan, according to sources close to the deal. He will, however, retain his equity stake, which sources said is less than 10 percent.
[...]
Sources told TRD that the indictment had been a source of concern for lenders on the Rafael Vinoly-designed project. The developers are currently in late-stage negotiations to secure a construction loan from United Overseas Bank for the project, sources said.
