MADRID | The M | 300m | 984ft | 72 fl | Cancelled

There's a new proposed skyscraper in Madrid.
Recently we know that Eurovegas complex will have an hotel with 300 meters and 72 floors. Here I put a photo of the building.

Will this be located near the 4 Torres development or will this be somewhere distant in the skyline? Where is the location?

La parte inferior me gusta mucho . Las dos torre no estan mal pero no me matan . Por lo que se ve este sera el edificio principal y mas alto de Eurovegas . Habra que ver renders mas detallados y ver si cambian cosas .

It's very far, in Alcorcón, about 10km far I think (edit: measured in google earth, it's 12km from the city centre and 16km from 4 torres), but there will be a cluster there if the complete project goes ahead, this is the phase 1 out of 3, below you can see pics of the rest of the phase 1, but by now these are only concept sketches:

Wow! The whole entertainment-gambling area looks huge and flashy! So this is the Spanish Las Vegas?

wow, thought that was the real early 2000's times square for a second
Reminds me of the Hudson Yards office towers that will be going up in NYC, but these if built will have the advantage of standing alone instead of being surrounded by other skyscrapers

The M looks awesome (if it is the final design). Who owns the land? There seems to be some farming but the land does not seem too fertile.

This just doesn't look right. Right now, the Spanish economy is hurting even more than the US, with like 26% unemployment. I just don't see anything this extravagant moving ahead.

Here's an article published by The Guardian:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013...complex-madrid

The first, $9.8bn stage of the project – with four separate "resorts" of 3,000 hotel rooms with casino facilities attached – is due to open in 2017.

Almost ten billion dollars! Wow!!

It's the Sands company that is behind it... Reading the news the financing of stage I has been finalized. Filling in the vacancies won't be too hard for sure.

I hope it will help Madrid's skyline, but I highly doubt it unless you take the right angle 20 kms away.

I actually love the tower. Not so sure about those other renders though. LV Sands hasn't failed to impress me yet, but it's so expensive and given the state of Spain's economy I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed at some point. In the long-run though great tourist attraction, and probably the largest and first of its kind in Europe (if I'm right).

I suppose that includes the temporary construction jobs. It seems an impossible number to reach unless you get a huge number of people staying in the "resort".
