KANNADA MOVIE OF LOCAL FLAVOUR
Mangalore: Familiar faces, hearty humour highlights of 'Chella Pilli'

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jul 5: The newly-released Kannada movie ‘Chella Pilli’ has brought the city of Mangalore to limelight in terms of shooting locations and choice of cast. Many familiar faces of this region - in small and big roles - were seen in the movie which released across the state on Friday July 5.

Except a few actors who are already well-known at the state level, most of them are making their debut in the Sandalwood industry. More than the dialogues, songs, and action sequences, the appearance of comedy theatre artistes from the coastal district attracted whistles at Jyothi Theatre in the city. City-based producer Sudesh Bhandary and director Sai Krishna Kudla deserve all praise.

The storyline is simple but there is plenty for some hearty laughs. One will certainly fall in love with the trio of comedians - Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor as they left no stone unturned to entertain the audience. The movie features a few punch lines in Tulu bringing additional fun for Tulu fans.

The innocence of Hemanth (Vijay Raghavendra) forms the main story line. He subsequently falls in love with Dia (Aishwarya Nag). Hemanth plays a Good Samaritan’s role but lands in trouble on many occasions. The widespread tentacles of the drug network and police negligence are some other issues discussed in the movie.

The appearance of former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda as a former chief minister is an added attraction.

The movie features four songs composed by noted music director Mikku Kamal. These peppy and melodious numbers are truly entertaining whereas the action scenes failed to thrill.

Although the subject is universal it’s a must watch for people of the district given the familiar faces and locations featured in this movie with a simple storyline.

Earlier, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Sadanand Shetty, and Naveen D Padil, along with a few cast members, lit the traditional lamp to mark the release of the movie.
