Same thing -- the original two WTC towers for me. Even ate twice at Windows on the World!

The highest for me was the 553.33 m-high (1,815.4 ft) CN Tower, at the 447 metre Skypod level:
http://www.cntower.ca/en-CA/Plan-You...ns/SkyPod.html

On a clear day you can see Buffalo or Rochester, New York; up to 160 km (100 miles).

Second tallest? Hmm... not sure. Perhaps the World Trade Towers back in the day.

Are telecommunications towers counted as "buildings"?

Slept one night in the 93'd floor at Shanghai World Financial Center in May/June 2009. Obviously i visited the observation bridge at 101 floor a few times!

Second tallest: Slept one night at Jin Mao Building, right next to SWFC!

My own photos.

I went to the Skypod level of the CN Tower on our honeymoon in 2003, the observation deck of the WTC a bunch of times (any time we had out of town guests) and the top of the Empire State Building. I've also been fortunate enough to go to the crown of both The Woolworth Building and The Chrysler Building.

Not technically a building, but the Canton Tower, Guangzhou. The 488m open-air observation platform was incredible.
In terms of a building, it would have to be the International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong.

The highest building I've ever been in is the top floor of the Circus Circus Reno, and then the 18th floor of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The highest observation tower I've been in is the skypod of the CN Tower and then the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.

Empire State, as many people. But I went up to the 102nd floor!

86th floor, where the famous observatory is:

102th floor:

Not a big difference, but as a skyscraper geek I had to go to the top
