The average speed is only 40km/h. Considering the time spent on each platform obviously. The maximum speed is 80km/h.

40km/h is actually quite fast for a Metro system, isn't it?

I'm not so sure about it. I always heard Sao Paulo's metro was faster, for instance. Although I used it and couldn't notice the difference. Tiago Costa from Fóruns Brasileiros might have the answer for you.
