According to Wikipedia, the station was designed in 1967 and it opened in 1994. That's 26 years of construction. It's only been open for 21 years. It's been under construction longer than it has stayed open so far!

Surely, they could use its ramps for another mode of transport, such as a people mover to the nearby train station. It just sounds like such a waste to tear it all down instead of transforming it into something else.

Under the new plans for mass transit in the Tel Aviv area, I am unsure whether the ongoing construction of the Red Line is being limited to its underground section, or the at-ground sections are being constructed as well. I would hate to construct a light rail/supertram line or system only for it to be way over capacity a couple of years later due to the population growth in the area, and then have to replace it with grade-separated lines. It would be expensive, but I wouldn't want to have the at-grade sections of the Red Line be heavily congested immediately after its opening.

This also makes me wonder how long the stations and rolling stock of the Red Line will be.

ISRAEL: Project promoter NTA has selected China’s Changchun Railway Vehicles as preferred bidder to supply rolling stock for the future Tel Aviv light metro Red Line.

The contract would cover the supply and maintenance of 90 LRV cars with an option for 30 more. Further details are to be announced once the government approves the contract and an associated industrial co-operation agreement.

So will it be a real metro?

Without levelcrossings?

I think Tel Aviv's Central Bus Station must have a terrible location or something.

Plus, a reason for the bus station's large size is that four of its seven floors are used as a shopping mall, and the remaining floors are used as a bus terminal.

I have never been to Tel Aviv so I had no idea about its Central Bus Station. Wow, a central transport hub intentionally designed to get people lost. That's madness.

In a way this structure reminds me a little bit at Slussen in Stockholm. It is not quite the same, but the dystopian concrete heavy concfusing dark nature of both seems to align well with each other. Slussen is currently torn down. I think Tel Aviv should look into the same option.

the CBS has to be torn down, there's no way this mess can be fixed.

Two new drone videos by Dudy Cohen featuring the light rail construction.

1. Galei Gil shaft on the Tel Aviv – Ramat Gan border. Two TBMs are already visible:

2. Shenkar portal – the eastern portal where the light rail goes underground, in Petah Tikva:
