It does not help that Boeing reputedly discounted the 737-700 price that United will pay to "well below half" the $80m list price according to Reuters.

Bombardier is trying to sell planes in Iran now. They were requested to provide a quote. Let's see how much the duopoloy are prepared to undercut this to get their deals done.

Rumours that IAG are sniffing around the CS100 at present. Deployment options are on Regional Routes ex Dublin (to the north of England mainly) and Edinburgh and also into London City where the quiet engine is a big big bonus.

Some CS300 options may be thrown in to keep the duopoly on their toes when quoting for A319 and B737-700 frames over the next while.

This is, if it indeed ever comes to anything, a highly political announcement that is intricately tied into Bombardiers Belfast operation and the deep desire of the Quebec Government who now own half the CS series to repatriate 100% of production to Mirabel, as well as keeping certain NI politicians quiet during the runup to the upcoming UK referendum on EU Exit.

Be interesting to see how this 2 6 step plays out.

When Airbus started out, Boeing was undercutting them and they complained. Now both are trying to undercut Bombardier. How is that a fair business practice? I thought competition was supposed to be encouraged but it seems that there is no encouragement for that practise. Will be interesting to see what profit levels are in 10 plus years when all of the financials on these super deals come to fruition.

You may be glad to hear that the CS300 has outsold the 737 Max 7 by a factor of 3 to 1 then. ( 190 x 60 orders) , its older brother the 737-700 had sold far more frames in its era ...in the years after the product was announced.

It has outsold the COMBINED A319neo and Boeing 737 Max 7 models by ALMOST 2 to 1 combined ( 190 x 110)

Boeing and Airbus are being forced by the market into the 180 seat plus market with their narrow offering. The CS300 is a nightmare for them.

The CS100 is in a different space down with Sukhoi and Embraer. Much smaller than what Boeing and Airbus have built in the past 20 years.

Thanks for that info. Funny enough I follow all the breaks that are happening with Bonbardier and I love the C Series. Great plane and I cannot wait get on board one.

I have only not been on the A380 and the A350 and the C Series. Had the opportunity to fly on Virgin's 787 from NYC to LHR.

Great piece of engineering work but previous mgmt were a bit too high on themselves. The new mgmt is taking it out there and making some waves. They will land something sooner rather than later.

Look like you might need to invite the president of Iran over if you want to get a deal over the line.

7000 job cuts but Air Canada signs LOI for up to 75 CS300...Finally

Globe Link:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/repor...ticle28779526/

Toronto Star Link:
http://www.thestar.com/business/2016...7000-jobs.html

Détails:
MONTREAL—Bombardier says it will cut its workforce by 7,000 positions over two years, including 2,000 contractors.

Most of the job losses will be in Canada and Europe, and will be partly offset by hiring in certain areas.

The Montreal-based aerospace and rail equipment company (TSX:BBD.B) says the cuts will begin in the coming weeks and be completed by 2017.

The job cuts were announced along with an Air Canada order for the largest model of Bombardier's new CSeries jets, as well as financial results for Bombardier's latest quarter and the 2015 financial year, and an outlook for 2016.

“We are turning Bombardier around to make this great company stronger and more competitive,” said Alain Bellemare, who has been Bombardier's president and chief executive for about a year.

“And today, with the signing of Air Canada for the leading-edge CS300 aircraft, we add a major international airline customer based in North America to complement our orders in both Europe and Asia.”

Among other things, Bombardier reported that its 2015 revenue was $18.2 billion — down from $20.1 billion in 2014.

Revenue in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 was $5 billion, down from just under $6 billion a year earlier.

1000 jobs in Belfast are to go. This is where the CS series wings, and other parts, are made.

Air Canada press release on their C Series LOI.

Quote:
Air Canada to Purchase Bombardier C Series as Part of its Fleet Renewal Program

Agreement includes 45 firm orders plus options to purchase an additional 30 aircraft

MONTREAL, Feb. 17, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada today announced that it has entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Bombardier Inc. for the acquisition of up to 75 Bombardier CS300 aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney PurePower® PW1500G engines as part of its narrowbody fleet renewal plan. The LOI contemplates 45 firm orders plus options to purchase up to an additional 30 aircraft and includes substitution rights to CS100 aircraft in certain circumstances.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2019 and extend to 2022. The first 25 aircraft on delivery will replace Air Canada's existing mainline fleet of Embraer E190 aircraft, with the incremental aircraft supporting Air Canada's hub and network growth, creating one of the world's youngest, most fuel efficient airline fleets.

It's not going good for Bombardier Canadian plane and train manufacturer Bombardier is to cut 7,000 jobs – one-tenth of its global workforce – over the next two years, including 1,350 in the UK...
