AEI signs agreement with Avmax for 8 CRJ200 SF freighter conversions

Feb 17, 2017: Aeronautical Engineers (AEI) has signed a Letter of Intent to provide a minimum of eight CRJ200 freighter conversions to Avmax who currently own 65 CRJ200 aircraft.

The LOI calls for the freighter conversions to commence in late 2017. As of right now, the modification for the conversions will be accomplished at Commercial Jet’s Dothan, Alabama facility.

Avmax intends to make the CRJ200 SF freighters available for sale and/or wet/dry leasing options to operators around the world.

Unfortunately, Mr. Walsh of IAG denied this already at the presentation of the annual result.

Iag tend to partner with Regional airlines on thin routes rather than buy regional size a/c

Apparently the CSeries delivery schedule for this year targets between 30 and 35 frames to be delivered.
Confirmed to take deliveries this year are, as of now, Swiss, airBaltic and Korean:
- Swiss plans for "at least" 12 deliveries (5 remaining CS100 and 7 CS300).
- airBaltic will receive 6 CS300.
- Korean will take 7 CS300, starting in August.
That totals 25 planes. Given the start of 2017 it seems a very optimistic schedule, as of today the total of frames delivered is 0 (for 2017).

From the Final Assembly Line in Mirabel, the following frames have been seen active (flightradar24):
CS100 serials 50015, 50016 and 50017, respectively with test reg C-FOYA, YB and YE, all going to Swiss. Of those only YA has done its first flight (08FEB17). YB is expected to fly soon and YE not too long after.
CS300 serials 55005 and 55010, with test reg C-FOWU and C-FPBE, respectively for airBaltic and Swiss. the first is at the paint shop, the latter should follow and both start initial ground tests.

CS100
Serials 50007 thru 50009 are stored and expected to be completed at a later date (possibly for one of the customers that deferred delivery, i.e. Malmö, GulfAir...
Serials 50010, until 50019 are for Swiss, of them 10 thru 14 are already in service.

CS300
Serials 55006 thru 55009 shall be for airBaltic (totalling 6 frames in 2017).
Serials 55010 thu 55016 for Swiss (7x CS300)
Serial 55017 is the first for Korean.

Malmö Aviation (now BRA - Braathens Regional Aviation) has frozen the contract for its CSeries aircraft, according to Swedish newspaper SvD.
This is due to a new climate tax that will see 80SEK (8.5EUR / 9 USD) levied on every national flight, 280SEK (29.4EUR / 31USD) on international flights and 430SEK (45EUR / 47.7USD) on intercontinental flights.

Still a problem with engines.

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...s-deli-434803/

Quote:
Bombardier has halted deliveries of the CSeries aircraft for two months to refine the production system and upgrade the aircraft configuration while the supply of Pratt & Whitney’s geared turbofan engines remains a bottleneck, chief executive Alain Bellemare tells Flightglobal.
Allegedly Pratt will have 2 new fan blade factories, one in Japan and one in Michigan in production by April and can start building engines at a decent rate.

I believe so, especially that it has the CRJ-1000 series up and running and is leasing around 1 or 2 more to support its European flights. I wouldn't be surprised if OU does that. Maybe with the CS aircraft, it can mount daily rotations from Zagreb to the big European cities, if not also to Athens, Warsaw, and Copenhagen.

And there's an order change: Swiss is converting its last 5 CS100 into CS300. This is according to their last financial statement. So in the end the will be operating 10 CS100 and 20 CS300.

This is the beginning of a significant milestone for the C-series IMO.
Once services are firmly estbalished at London City I expect that this will highlight the supremacy of this aircraft to new customers...

FTV2 - C-GWYD just completed a simulation of LCY to JFK trip. FlightRadar24: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/a...-gwyd/#cd9250b.

It was configured with a payload of 40 business seats - 8 more than BA's A318 used for LCY-SNN-LGA run...
