What about a "high-sore"?.....like an eyesore ie. an incredibly ugly blemish of a tower in the city.

Kinda sounds like a form of herpes though. Maybe there is a better term. Ha.

A spire is off course a term that has been out there for more than a century, but sometimes you just need to include a term just to define what it is not.
